I have to say - that was a fantastic performance. Ramsdale had his best game for us. Ossula’s goal was just a pure SJP supernatural worldie. Can we all just enjoy the fuck out of tonight’s game and give the old guard some credit?

Totally disagree. Our budget is for 8th place in the league. If we are perceived as being better than that, that’s great - but we are playing on 4 fronts with insufficient squad depth and having had no pre-season to establish a new forward line. Patience needed. Is that likely? I don’t know. #nufc

Refreshingly level headed appraisal! I think Howe is a great fit for the club until PSR regulations loosen. Until then, like Villa, we are upstarts on the fringes. However, league performance is the match-going fan’s barometer and weekly humblings take their toll on patience. I worry Howe will go.(

If the league form continues on the current trajectory it’s going to be grim indeed for Eddie. I’m depressed at how many fellow mags have already turned on him. Binning off our most successful boss in favour of blindly rolling the dice on the next guy. Deja-effing-vu!

Nonsense re pre-season. It’s a time to try things out, tinker and test in friendlies. Patterns of play and interplay between individuals can be developed intensively. You can’t do that in the midst of a season playing 2 or 3 competitive games a week.

You’re spot on. It’s also to do with the lack of a pre-season to bed players in to an evolving system. Wissa got a bad injury before he’d kicked a ball. Last minute shopping inevitably meant we overpaid for players down our list. That said, I’m not giving anyone a free pass for that performance.

Since Leeds game we've played 7 games and picked up 4pts.
Don't be surprised if we're mid 40's points wise this season.

I’m pretty old and tbh in my time, just about every manager we’ve had has come for a last hurrah or a fat payday or to boost a fragile ego. If we’re honest even our faves fall into one of these categories. What’s unique about Howe is he’s able, ambitious and he wants to succeed here. That’s rare.

Im talking about the likelihood of persuading a proven elite manager who would be an upgrade on Eddie to join the project. In a market where Man U, Spurs and others (with much more spending power than us) have struggled to hire a manager and are still looking, I think it’s an extremely tall order.

Have to say, if Howe left I’m not confident our revolving door exec team could lure that hipster elite manager to the far flung north (much as I love it) to take us to ‘the next level’ armed with the 8th best budget in the league. Especially, when Man U, Spurs and maybe City are also hiring.

There’s valid criticism to be made and Howe has to take his share but I haven’t heard much from TF on what happens after Howe leaves.

Our wage budget is 8th in the PL. Maybe a bit higher when CL bonuses are paid. Competing in Europe helps us as we slowly grow the commercial side of the club, but there’s a limit to how long we can hold on to players who are being told they can maybe double their wages in some cases. #nufc

I’m afraid we are going to have to get used to losing a big name or two from time to time: the trick is to get a fat price and reinvest smartly.
