The stakes are high, but so too is our capacity to prevail. Mr. Putin believes time is on his side—that our patience will wane, our unity will fracture.
Let us prove him wrong. Let us stand with Mr. Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people, not out of sentiment, but out of principle.

And to those who clamor for appeasement, who whisper of 'peace' at the cost of justice; History has taught us that capitulation only emboldens the aggressor. We tried that in the 1930s; the graves of millions bear witness to its folly.

The willing must arm Ukraine not with half-measures, but with the tools to win—swiftly and decisively.
Sanctions on Russia must bite deeper, and our energy independence must be secured, lest we fund the very war we oppose.

But let’s take heed ourselves as well. Courage abroad must be matched by strength at home. We cannot champion democracy while dithering in our resolve or squandering our resources.

Ukraine’s fight is not just their own—it is ours, for if we allow aggression to triumph there, the ripple of instability will reach every corner of Europe and beyond.

He is no polished statesman, nor does he pretend to be. But he has shown what leadership demands: clarity of purpose, unyielding resolve, and a willingness to stand on the front line with his people.

And then there is Mr. Zelenskyy—a leader forged in fire. When I look at him, I am reminded of the ordinary men and women of Britain who stood firm in our darkest hours.

To him, we must say: you underestimate us, as your predecessors did before you. The free world does not bend to bullies; it rises against them.

He wages war not just on a neighboring state, but on the very idea of self-determination. He calculates that the West is weak, fractured, and unwilling to pay the price of resistance.

Let us be clear about Mr. Putin. He is no enigma; his actions speak louder than his hollow words. For years, he has chipped away at the post-war order—Georgia in 2008, Crimea in 2014, and now the full-scale assault on Ukraine since 2022.

In Volodymyr Zelenskyy, we see the defiant spirit of a free people, a man who has risen from the crucible of war to embody the courage of a nation under siege.

In Vladimir Putin, we see a man who believes might makes right, a leader who seeks to resurrect the ghosts of empire through coercion and bloodshed.

I have seen this before—decades ago, when the shadow of the Soviet Union loomed large over Europe. Today, that shadow takes a different form, but its essence remains unchanged.

We stand once again at a crossroads of history, where the principles of freedom, sovereignty, and the rule of law are tested by the ambitions of tyrants.
