This is one of my favourite styles of Hanfu ^-^ The separation of the top and skirt allows for a lot of custom mix-and-matches, and the overall shape gives the illusion of longer legs (I got short legs xD).

Hairstyles:
Hairstyles during this period also started becoming more complex. Different updos and hair ornaments started to be use, in contrast to the past when the hair was mostly tied into a simple bun with minimal accessories.
Skirt:
The skirt was pieced together using long, rectangular pieces of fabric, gathered at the top using a "belt". The drape was loose with a slight flare at the bottom.
Top:
Ruqun collars opened wider than the Zhiju and Quju from previous dynasties. The sleeves could be wide and loose, or more form-fitting to the arm. At the waist, a thick piece of fabric formed a "belt" which could be tucked into the skirt or over top.
β¨The Ruqun (θ₯¦θ£οΌrefers to a 2-piece Hanfu where the top and skirt are separated. This style first started appearing in the Eastern Han Dynasty and became popularized during the Weijin + Northern/Southern Dynasty (220-420 AD).

pleated at the top and attached to a waist belt, allowing the bottom to flare out.
This 2-piece Ruqun style reached a peak during the Wei-Jin Northern/Southern dynasties period, and laid the foundation for many Hanfu styles in later dynasties.
In the Eastern Han/Three Kingdoms period, Hanfu started to evolve from a 1-piece long robe (known as "Shenyi"/ζ·±θ‘£) to a 2-piece set with the top and bottom separated (known as "Ruqun"/θ₯¦θ£). The bottom skirt is pieced together using several long, rectangular pieces,

Hanfu during this period:
In terms of Hanfu, many new styles appeared influenced by a clash of different ethnic groups and cultures.
Unfortunately, this didn't bring peace to the country as power struggles continued. Due to the continuous fighting, China's population was reduced drastically and many tribes from the north attacked, hoping to enlarge their own territory.

Towards the end of the Eastern Han dynasty, the Han empire split into three kingdoms (Wei, Han, Wu) with Wei being the most powerful. Following almost a century of fighting, the three kingdoms were unified under the Jin Dynasty.

The one time I tried wearing one that draped on the floor I basically had to lift the robe up with every step, otherwise I'd step on it (granted the one I bought wasn't accurate so the drape of the fabric didn't leave an opening at the front). It looked great in the mirror though π€£

Similar to the curved-sleeve Zhiju, this style of robe has short sleeves that are wide and straight. The overall length of the robe is also shorter. The robe has the signature straight-edge from waist to floor shared by all Zhiju robes

β¨Quju robes are identified by the diagonal cut of the fabric at the front. It was worn around the same time period as the straight-edged Zhiju robes (η΄θ£Ύ).
For anyone interested in actually purchasing Hanfu for wear, Quju and Zhiju robes are AMAZING for fall/winter weather.
