Yr11 @RWBA are exploring how we bridge generations by recognising both the shared threads & the distinct contexts of Leon Greenman, KarlβHeinz Kusserow & Dydine Umunyana. Their experiences of persecution were different, yet each speaks to the cost of hatred & the courage it takes to resist it.

Front page of Royal Historical Society blog post with image of the Berlin Holocaust Memorial, photograph by Rudolph Simon, 2013, Wilkimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 3.0. Text reads: "On Holocaust Memorial Day we need more history, not just more memory' and abstract: In this post, Andy Pearce β Director of the Centre for Holocaust Education at UCL β considers the current levels of knowledge of the Holocaust among UK secondary school students. UCL studies, in 2016 and 2026, reveal a troubling and enduring divergence between popular understandings of the persecution and murder of Jews in Europe, in the 1930s and 1940s, and the findings of scholarly historical research. 27 January 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of Holocaust Memorial Day in Britain. As Andy argues, prevalent and popular misperceptions risk being sustained if the Holocaust becomes a subject for remembrance and memory, rather than of history and historical scholarship. It is only though βmore historyβ, shared widely and publicly, that we may seek to redress error, distortion and denial."

It was an honour in my dual capacity to hear again from Eva Clarke BEM @uclholocaust.bsky.social as we gathered in person/online to mark #HMD.
Our RWBA relationship with Eva is a longstanding one (as pictured), both a first & sec gen survivor - she is the embodiment of bridging generations.
This HMD, #HtFMeUs thanks Angela, Rob, Bernie, Louisa, Natalie & Noemie for 'Bridging Generations' & supporting our project, schools & communities.
We remember the Malenicky, Lewin, Federmann, Salomonson & Koenig families, & the stories that help us learn, remember, challenge hate & be kind.

Wonderful to hear how HMD is being marked at LMA. Mr B has reported how well assemblies are going & today ran a preparatory session with group exploring Bernie's #HtFMeUs journey, w/ great bio poem outcomes. On Friday I will be delighted to support the group with a Bridging Generations workshop day.

The whole school listened in silence to Mr R deliver a very powerful RWBA assembly marking HMD.
Yr 11 in person, all other years groups remotely, watching live.
Informative, moving, combining education & reflection.
Work will continue in activate tasks in lessons today & ilearn this week.
On Holocaust Memorial Day, RWBA Yr8 have been working & reflecting through the #powerofsport, & collectively built a bridge of values & pledges, & then added sun, rays & light.
Thankyou so much RWBA #TeamPE for your innovation, engagement & sharing powerful stories.
@amybraier.bsky.social
Today, on HMD RWBA joins in bridging generations: testimony is something we listen to & learn from together, guiding the choices our young people make & the communities they help build.
Memory becomes a bridge they choose to walk across, carrying its lessons into the world they are shaping

Grateful to Mr R for leading today's RWBA whole school HMD assembly. Powerfully remembering Eva Schloss, Anne Frank, sharing Bernie Graham, Smajo Beso, the Hardaga & Kabilio families stories, & words of Robert Rinder as we reflected on 'Bridging Generations'.

βYr8 @RWBA are exploring what it means to bridge generations by holding together stories from different times & contexts: Janusz Korczak, Helga Gross & Sharif Barko. Their experiences werenβt the same, yet each reveals something about dignity, courage & the choices people face. #HMD

As HMD2026 nears, RWBA will work to bridge generations through stories that shape how we think, feel & act.

Fascinating to join second of @uclholocaust.bsky.social webinars on latest research.
We look forward to reading the digest when published tomorrow, but great reflections today from @andypearce.bsky.social, Dr Becky Hale, teachers Vanessa & Francis from St Laurence & Woodhey & @tgplawson.bsky.social
Yr7 @RWBA are Bridging Generations w/ stories of Anne Frank, Eva Schloss, Karl Stojka & Fr Marcel Uwineza. As they study, listen & reflect this HMD theyβre reminded Anne once wrote 'how wonderful it is that nobody need wait to improve the world', realising what it means to carry that hope forward.
