"An independent journalist" who won't remain nameless Too many legacy outlets still refuse to credit indie journos. Enough is enough.

If your labor goes uncredited when the context clearly calls for credit, it is disturbing and mystifying. It puts you in the awkward position of having to self-credit. For women, it hits even deeper. Credit groundbreaking labor. Credit women. www.thehandbasket.co/p/independen...

Then on April 22nd, a source reached out to let me know that it actually happened: The US had β€œrelocated” the first prisoner to Rwanda. In a cable dated that same day and reviewed by me, the American Embassy confirmed: β€œ...the U.S. interagency effectively supported a capable Rwandan government to relocate detained Iraqi national Mr. Omar Abdulsattar Ameen, who could not be removed to Iraq pursuant to U.S immigration proceedings. This successful relocation - and Rwanda's subsequent agreement to accept additional third-country nationals (TCNs) - proved the concept for developing a new removal program to relocate TCNs from the United States to Rwanda.”

"As story after story rolled in and March gave way to April, I still kept the Rwanda cable in the back of my mind. I’d confirmed with multiple sources that the cable was legitimate, but none could say how serious it was. Something in my gut told me to sit tight."

Yup. Just ask Neville Chamberlain.

The absolute devastation that @chuckschumer.com is about to inflict on D.C. by supporting the GOP’s continuing resolution is hard to overstate. Massive cuts to schools and law enforcement. Teachers laid off en masse. Basic city services may grind to a halt because we *cannot spend our own money.*

By keeping the word "and" NPS staff are letting us fill in the blank and telegraphing that it's temporary. It's unlikely to be a typo.

This is grossly irresponsible reporting by the AP. What’s being offered is not a buyout. The deal is if you agree to resign in September you can continue working remotely until then. There is no buyout or severance.

All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

I unmuted Hegseth's opening statement long enough to hear him declare "Jesus Christ our savior" and stayed until he forgot one of his kids's names. So about 96 seconds. #hegsethhearing

This is Los Angeles. You step outside and breathe in the ashes of your friends' homes while charred pages from someone's beloved books glide to your feet on poison winds.

Tesla has pocketed $11 billion from the sale of regulatory credits to rival automakers needing help to hit tough emissions targets.

And 43% of Tesla's net profit through September 2024 came from selling these credits. - Axios

If Trump axes emissions standards, Tesla will hurt.

Super interesting. Sam Biagetti makes a withering critique of most of the ways we use the word "culture." Highly recommended episode of #historiansplaining
