If you have any capacity to help out with this whatsoever, please, please do. Whatβs happening in Sudan is one of the worst atrocities of modern times.

Yes. If people remember one thing from my book I hope it's the name of Louise Webster, the co-discoverer of black holes.
She has been written out of the history of science.
She had one of the first successful liver transplants in Australia but sadly died in Sydney at 49.
(She was an astronomer)

Black Madonna and child on railway platform
Woman in African dress with child on railway platform
Crite, who spent most of his life & career in Boston, was a devout Episcopalian whose art consistently celebrated his religious faith. I absolutely adore his so-called "transit madonnas," which find holiness in the everyday ("Our Lady of the Elevated Station"; "Madonna of Dudley Station")

I genuinely think we live in a golden age of kids non-fiction, so Iβm very excited for us to celebrate #NonFictionNovember with this weekβs #KidsBooksFriday.
What brilliant non-fiction would you recommend? This is another week where I canβt possibly stop at four.

Paper bag with a scary mouth hole. Big pointy teeth surrounding the hole.
Whipped up a creepy bag for the local kids to collect their sweets, if they dare...

Also health care professionals can't get the vaccine either. I saw a respiratory doctor last week at my long Covid appointment who was very concerned about lack of COVID vaccine availability. She didn't know why the government has massively cut back on this. Goes against evidence based medicine.

Please sign this. I've had the COVID vaccine every year since it's been available. But this year I can't get it, which is nuts as I have long Covid plus severe asthma. Covid breaks me every time I get it. Severe worsening of symptoms etc. I dread to think what it would be like without the vaccine.

I loved it. Such good writing and clever plot. I'd love to know what kids and young people think of it.

Cover of The Worlds We Leave Behind. Pale green forest with a small river running through it. Some young people are balancing their way along the river bank, their backs to us.
The Worlds We Leave Behind by @afharrold.com is brilliantly unsettling. Highly recommend. Plus Levi Pinfold's illustrations are spectacular.

Cover of Seven Ghosts by Chris Priestley showing a child illuminated under their chin by mobile phone light against a dark background with a faintly visible creepy house.
I remember finding Seven Ghosts by Chris Priestley suitably creepy. Plus it's a Barrington Stoke book so the accessibility is an extra win. #KidLit #KidLitUK

America can be pernicious. Most kids don't want turnip and mangelwurzel lanterns anymore. No, they want pumpkins and exotic squashes. You try and tell them to stick to mangels, but they just think grandad is a fool. At least they are still guising. β Ed Nazey, 1982 #VOH #FolkloreThursday

Impossible Creatures, The Worlds We Leave Behind, Amari and the Night Brothers, heck, there's loads. Also way more books with female protagonists than when I was a kid, especially in the types of books I wanted to read.

Image of the mechanical ladder outside the Louvre
Text below says WENN'S MAL WIEDER SCHNELL GEHEN MUSS (When you need to move fast)
Underneath is more German text which translates as "The BΓΆcker Agilo transports your treasures weighing up to 400kg at 42m/min - quiet as a whisper."
The German company that makes the mechanical ladder used in the Louvre heist has used the image to advertise, with the text 'When you need to move fast'
