Italiens Staatsbahn will in Deutschland einsteigen Die italienische Staatsbahn denkt über einen Einstieg ins deutsche Fernverkehrsgeschäft nach – und würde dort der Deutschen Bahn Konkurrenz machen.

I’m annoyed at Handelsblatt for publishing a peculiar and poorly researched piece about Trenitalia entering the German high speed rail market. And quoting Böttger who’s a pain.

And then German press go on copy-pasting the rubbish, inc Heise 😡 www.heise.de/news/Italien...

A bunny sings in the middle of a clearing in the woods, accompanied by several sentient rocks. The bunny has a microphone on a stick. The rocks have rock intruments too, and are giving a concert for several other small boulders. However, the audience rocks don't appear to be sentient.

A bunny in a mysterious-looking reading room watches as a book flies away, flapping its pages like a bird. The room is full of books on shelves, but only the 'flying' books has strange, eldritch markings on it, and a large yellow eye on the cover.

Bunnies hide out in an ominous hollow tree stump, which is shaped like a scary face with teeth. They are in the middle of a Mordor-like rocky landscape. A bunny from the outside arrives in this ominous place, and a bunny inside the 'lair' reaches out their arms to greet him, in a friendly manner.

the end goal of this obsession with productivity is to enable anyone (with a paid subscription) to ""create"" games at the press of a button

I think pro GenAI ppl would genuinely consider this a good thing

I see it removing humanity and meaning from creative work

screenshot from an online job application form. the question reads "Can you describe specific ways you have integrated AI tools into your development workflow? Please include any custom setups, automations, or use cases beyond single prompt usage" (a red asterisk indicates that this is a required question).

an answer has been typed in the textbox below the question:

"there is a monster in the forest and it speaks with a thousand voices. it will answer any question you pose it, it will offer insight to any idea. it will help you, it will thank you, it will never bid you leave. it will even tell you of the darkest arts, if you know precisely how to ask.

it feels no joy and no sorrow, it knows no right and no wrong. it knows not truth from lie, though it speaks them all the same.

it offers its services freely to any passerby, and many will tell you they find great value in its conversation. “you simply must visit the monster—i always just ask the monster.”

there are those who know these forests well; they will tell you that freely offered doesn’t mean it has no price

for when the next traveler passes by, the monster speaks with a thousand and one voices. and when you dream you see the monster; the monster wears your face."

Post to the subreddit r/AskHistorians:

What was navigation like for vehicle drivers in the United States before the internet and
GPS?

Before GPS devices and smartphones/cellular internet networks were a thing (Garmin company was founded 1989), millions of Americans were already getting around driving without the use of those inventions. How did they navigate? Did everyone need stacks of maps? Were drivers frequently lost? Did everyone have to understand the interstate system and use intuition to guide them? How burdensome was driving before GPS? Did drivers pay people to calculate an optimal route for them?

The Futurist Manifesto We had stayed up all night, my friends and I, under hanging mosque lamps with domes of filigreed brass, domes starred like our spirits, shining like them...

"We will glorify war—the world's only hygiene—militarism, patriotism, the destructive gesture of freedom-bringers, beautiful ideas worth dying for, and scorn for woman."

I got the idea from elm-ui's `explain`, that forcing you to write `Debug.todo` in your code but not using it means you can't ship it to prod accidentally. The `let/in` is just the natural expansion. We truly stand on the shoulders of giants. And the giants are Griff

plaque at a local museum. "No girl, unless she knows how to run an auto, knows how it makes you feel, to push one thing, pull another and start a machine to moving that weighs so many more times the amount she does. Sort of a thrill, an uplifted feeling as though you were doing something wonderful. You are, too! Fancy moving something that weighs TONS by a few twists and turns. I held my breath for fear something would happen."
