So sorry to learn that CHB has departed, @andr3wsmith.bsky.social. Like you, he responded so kindly and thoughtfully to tweets years ago expressing gratitude for the seeds sown in an 8yo mind by Season 18. Your mutual admiration and affection were evident in interviews and DVD extras. Condolences.

Raising a glass to Christopher H Bidmead, who brought big ideas and magic moments to Doctor Who, and commissioned writers like Christopher Bailey, @andr3wsmith.bsky.social and @stephengallagher.co.uk. A playfully cantankerous persona never quite masked a deep intelligence and a kind, generous soul.

AI's best use case will always be scams. It's scamtech, top to bottom. Everything about it is crooked. Its bedrock is theft and its legacy is the destruction of the environment, both physical and virtual.

Even most of its 'legitimate' uses are a form of lying.

Sad news. We were big fans of Christopher Hamilton Bidmead and his button down approach to Doctor Who. He even critiqued our Miniscope of him in 2012. A skeptic till the end.

Sunday’s episode has already been recorded, so we’ll properly pay tribute to Mr. Bidmead the week after.

"The Barbarians and the Samurai" by @andr3wsmith.bsky.social was a great historical that I aboslutely could have imagined in the 60s. And, "The Invention of Death" by @johndorney.bsky.social was an intriguing exploration of a world with no concept of death and the implications thereof.

One of my strongest beliefs is if they actually put this on Broadway it would absolutely destroy at the award shows and run for 20 years

There it is. A cherry picked or limited selection, but good to see. Plus a documentary, 30 years of the Comic Strip. Thanks for the heads up, Eddie. I particularly look forward to seeing β€˜Strike’ again after so many years.

#OnThisDay, 19 Apr 1967, Katherine Switzer becomes the first woman to complete the Boston Marathon as a registered runner, despite the organiser physically trying to stop her.

She ran it again in 2017, 50 years later.

This is the 50th anniversary of what 12yo me thought was the most exciting moment ever in #DoctorWho.

On 12/4/75, over the closing titles of ep 6 of Genesis of the Daleks, the announcer said next week’s new adventure was called β€˜Revenge of the Cybermen’

Cybermen! After all those years! 🀩🀩🀩
