America’s Polarization Has Become the World's Side Hustle The 'psyops' revealed by X are entirely the fault of the perverse incentives created by social media monetization programs.

β€œAmerica’s Polarization Has Become the World's Side Hustle”

too many people just focus on supply side of foreigners using tech for disinformation. Its the demand side - American society is broken yet wealthy - that makes it a business model

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Not that I'm the biggest fan of the American copyright system, this feels like a no-brainer. Effort will always be better than slop.

AI has a purple problem

Why does every website look like this? Where did this come from? Is Tailwind to blame?

I went to the sloppiest and purplest corners of the web to find out

can't bring back bourgeois 'good taste' wo bringing back the bourgeoisie, civil society, the public sphere, etc

slop is the aesthetic manifestation of more fundamental power relations/the reframing of everything around private wealth & responsibility
