Took a mental health day yesterday. I baked cookies, journaled, played video games and didnโ€™t leave the house. 10/10; what a privilege to be able to take a break when I need one.

Big cities aside, wonderful. We have a very comfortable life here and everyone takes daily naps. We always joke that we could never afford to live Canadaโ€ฆ but itโ€™s true. The little village we live in is in the mountains, ten minutes from the sea.

As an American (Minnesotan) married to a Canadian, I love going to Canada. Itโ€™s basically like going home to visit my family, but safer and happier. Stunning landscapes, kind people, gun controlโ€ฆ what more could a girl want?

I have new a rule where every time I catch myself worrying about things I canโ€™t control, I have to go write instead.

Iโ€™m averaging around 1000 words per day. Why didnโ€™t I do this sooner?

To put it into perspective: It is the probability of 2 million people getting together (about the population of San Diego) each to play a game of dice with trillion-sided dice. They each roll the dice, and they all come up with the exact same number-for example, 550,343,279,001.

I am just a random human but yes, I think so. If it begins to spread human to human, it will be a real problem depending on the r-naught value, especially with anti-vax RFK at the helm.

Honestly, if it were me, I would just stop putting in the effort. If they come to you and say, โ€œWhere have you been?โ€ then you can have a frank conversation with them. If they donโ€™t come to you, then you know theyโ€™re not a real friend and you can move on.

This is a cropped, close-up image of the planet Venus, taken by the Parker Solar Probeโ€™s WISPR instrument. The image shows a crescent Venus against the black backdrop of space, with the edge of the planetary limb clearly defined. The crescent is illuminated by sunlight, transitioning from a bright, almost white glow at the top right edge to a subtle, golden yellow that dominates the majority of the illuminated area, before fading into the darkness of the planet's night side at the bottom left. The distinct variations in brightness and texture across the crescent suggest cloud formations or atmospheric layers. A bright, flaring light source is visible at the top right corner, likely the Sun, which contributes to the illumination of the crescent. The overall composition emphasizes the stark contrast between the luminous crescent and the surrounding darkness, highlighting the curvature and celestial context of Venus.
