Because for twenty years he has been reporting on police abuse and lying so when he reports on what they “alleged” you can be pretty sure he’ll be the one reporting the truth and exposing them in 48 hours like he’s done dozens of times before.

One reason why the Constitution broadly protects speech without regard to its content, and why it also protects expressive conduct rather than words alone, is that you never know whether the most profound form of protest against authoritarianism will turn out to be a frog costume.

They should send out PD with all their cameras on the NG explicitly to collect information for future prosecutions. Not interfering, documenting. They would get gassed.

In undercover interview, Project 2025 architect gets candid on the initiative’s radical goals and connections to Trump In an undercover interview with reporters from the British non-profit organization Centre for Climate Reporting, Project 2025 architect and MAGA ally Russ Vought admitted to the project's strong ties ...

When you recall that political reporters ran interference for Trump over his "opposition" to Project 2025, remember that even AT THAT TIME there was a hidden camera interview with Vought where he said that was bullshit and he didn't mean it. www.mediamatters.org/russ-vought/...

Seeing how this world rewards stupidity vs intelligence, maybe it’s the smart choice to make oneself stupid.

To put it another way - if Jeffries wants people to the left of the party's mainstream giving full-throated support to moderate nominees, he damn well better endorse left-of-mainstream candidates who win primaries.

That's not "bending the knee." It's being fair. And not a fecking idiot.

What would make a Mayor Cuomo administration even worse? Police Commissioner Eric Adams (assuming that’s the deal here, not the Saudi nonsense)

We rushed to get tix when the review came out because we wanted to see it before they “fixed” it. It was abominable but we are glad we did.

So long as you don’t say the words “defund the police,” people are wildly in favor of defunding the police.

The why (then and now) is that there is no such thing as “constitutional law.”

A professor told me once that he refused to teach “constitutional law,” but could teach “a history of constitutional decisionmaking.” Now I understand why.

Fun fact: Texas is a one party consent state when it comes to recording conversations, which means that you can legally record any conversation of which you are a part — and can share it with a journalist, such as me

The thing to emphasize here is that this treatment is *utterly normal.* It's part of the system of detention which has existed for decades. Folkston has been like this for many, many years,

"Just the other day, I was in the audience at Lincoln Center when Justice Amy Coney Barrett said, while promoting a new book, that she doesn't think the United States is in a constitutional crisis," Farias told us. "Today, the Supreme Court, without offering a single line of reasoning, more or less declared that the Fourth Amendment, which protects everyone from unreasonable searches and seizures, nonetheless allows the Trump Administration to arrest and detain anyone who looks Latino, citizen or not, on account of the language that they speak or the kind of jobs they do. The ruling putatively covers the Los Angeles area, but the effect could be national," he continued.
"If that's not a constitutional crisis, then what is?"

The New Yorker asked me “how bad” today’s Supreme Court ruling was. I boiled it down to one paragraph:

Aside from that, the unions are not in fact arguing in good faith. De Blasio let them run wild in 2020 because he was more worried the PBA would yell at him than defending NYers and the PBA yelled at him anyway.

SCOTUS holds for the first time in history that law enforcement can stop people based on their race. Would it approve roving patrols targeting white people, who commit most of crime in this country, or citizens, who commit crimes at higher rates than non-citizens?
