Kent climbed the cracked steps and waited for the city to forget him. His AR mantle shimmered into existence. Faint glyphs appeared, each one a shortcut to a spell he’d built from old city APIs and dead code. Above him a demonic figure began to form. Kent tapped the quest icon.

Ava kept seeing herself twice — once in glass, once in light. The reflection lagged by half a breath, a known glitch since the update. The Elvish temple ahead flickered as it loaded into view.
