The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts created this video of highlights from the installation of Grand Lodge officers. If you pay attention and have a quick eye you can see me a couple times.

Bunch of grapes that hung from the sign of The Bunch of Grapes Tavern. The first Masonic lodge chartered in Massachusetts in 1733 met at the tavern. Here the grapes hang from a lamp adorning the pedestal at the Grand Master’s station at Grand Lodge.

The first lodge chartered in Massachusetts in 1733 met at The Bunch of Grapes Tavern. These are the bunches of grapes that adorned its sign. I believe these only come out for the installation of the Grand Master in his first year in office.

I was too busy at the time for It to dawn on me exactly what I was carrying.

Just dawned on me. Yesterday at the installation of Grand Lodge officers I got to hold the urn crafted by Paul Revere which holds a lock of George Washington’s hair.

Interesting series. I’m always curious about English Masonry. We have different ranks in Massachusetts. Lodge, District, and Grand Lodge.

The Grand Master is marching in the Haverhill Santa Parade today, so I’m off to Haverhill to march in the Santa Parade.

I was at an American Revolution 250th Anniversary event this evening. Grand Lodge cast a cannon to be fired at such events. I snapped a few cool pictures.

Sunday 12 October 2025 the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts will be sponsoring another stop on the 250th anniversary of the Knox Cannon Trail on the town common in Sturbridge. There will be re-enactors firing muskets and cannon. Event goes from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.

All Shriners are Freemasons, but not all Freemasons are Shriners.

Yom Kippur begins at sundown. I wish all my Jewish friends a meaningful fast. May you have a good sealing in the Book of Life.

Stephen Kustigian is my neighbor’s son. He and Eddie Santiago were off duty and riding motorcycles. A driver crashed into them and caused severe injuries. They have been in physical rehab for a few months.

Several years ago Independence Lodge was chartered Primarily for the Brazilian community in Massachusetts. Their meetings are in Portuguese. They set about translating the initiation ceremony and yesterday was the first time Massachusetts initiation was done in Portuguese. 70 men became Masons.

We are returning from Summer break. Our first meeting of this Masonic year is 9 September at 7:00pm.

In conjunction with the Massachusetts committee coordinating the 250th Anniversary of the Revolution the Grand Lodge has commissioned a replica cannon for events along the trail that Henry Knox made as he took cannon captured at Fort Ticonderoga to relieve the occupation of Boston.

I love the look on his face.

Today is Masonic Family Fun Day at the American Heritage Museum in Hudson, Massachusetts. This event is open to the public. It runs from 10:00am to 4:00pm. In essence it’s a small fair.

I met MW Bro Watson at the Grand Lodge Building in Boston. We talked for about an hour. He was a very nice man and incredibly friendly. I’ve met quite a few Grand Masters over the years, but I’ll always remember that evening chatting with him.

Celebrating the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.

This Sunday, 10 August 2025, is Masonic Family Fun Day at the American Heritage Museum in Hudson, Massachusetts. The event itself is an outdoor fair and open to members of the public. The museum will be open and tickets can be purchased online.

In Massachusetts we normally don’t meet in July and August. Some lodges do, but most don’t.
