the Influencer Administration. they see the job as creating content, flying first class, and cheating on their husbands and wives. the only part of the gig that might require some real elbow grease is the immiseration of people they don’t like.

I honestly think one reason Millennials are so angry about all this is that many of us grew up during the brief period in American history where the official line was that we had won history *because* of our values, and most of us actually internalized that.

Donald Trump is not popular.
Donald Trump was the least popular person to run for president in US history.
Donald Trump lost the popular vote twice.
Donald Trump’s approval rating has never been above 50%
Donald Trump is not more popular when Gallup stops tracking presidential approval.

So we can all blame Bad Bunny for not getting to hear those bars.

this reminds me of working at NBC in 2017 and attending a "Diversity Event" that turned out to be hosted by Tom Brokaw (?) where he said "let's face it a lot of the Ferguson protestors were thugs" and I raised my hand and was like "is this event not totally bizarre to anyone else" lol

The LLM promises that "you'll never have to think alone again." The LLM will think for you.

But, if "I think, therefore I am" is true--then isn't the LLM trying to take away the one thing that makes you, you?

Texas A&M claims it has β€œseamlessly completed” its Spring 2026 course review. That statement is false.

Multiple courses addressing race, gender, and sexuality are still under review with faculty facing pressured to censor well into the semester.

Texans deserve the truth, not spin.

Following the Kent State massacre in May 1970, a Gallup poll showed that 58% of Americans thought the shootings were justified. The night *before* the killings, Ohio's GOP governor described the student protesters this way: "They're the worst type of people that we harbor in America."

ICE does not have authority to detain witnesses. For all practical purposes, these people have been kidnapped.

At the end of the day, the Black Lives Matter era was about whether people should be killed in the street, and lots of people decided yeah and put those little blue flags on their cars. It spread to everyone because it stopped for no one.

The uncomfortable truth is that the president of the United States is a man with the mind of a spoiled child. His debilitating solipsism is a threat to the stability of the entire world. A functional Congress would impeach and remove him. But the Republican majority is in a codependent relationship with the president, unable to separate his identity from that of their party. And the president’s advisers are either cowed supplicants desperate to please or scheming viziers eager to use his power for their own ends. There is no one, then, to pressure Trump to resign like there was for Nixon.

In John McTiernan’s 1990 film adaptation of β€œThe Hunt for Red October,” Fred Thompson, in the years before he was elected as a Republican senator from Tennessee, delivers a haunting warning as he, and Alec Baldwin’s Jack Ryan, observe a deadly naval disaster. β€œThis business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we’ll be lucky to live through it.”

We have three years left with a mad king. It does not feel sustainable.

my personal feelings about ICE agents in church is that the House of God is open to all. But I'd also say that if you do not call the ICE agents in your church to repent of their evil then you forfeit the right to be mad if other people do it for you.

There you have it; the Trump admin allows ICE lawyer James Rodden to stay on the job. His personal social media account praised Hitler, supported white nationalism, and said that America started going downhill the day that Lincoln was elected.

A total rout in the Miami mayoral, in a race that had been highly nationalized (Trump endorsed the loser).

The Dem (Higgins) over-performed 2024 presidential in predominantly Cuban (+8), non-Cuban Hispanic (+9), Black (+9), and White (+11) precincts-- over-performance across the board.

Take out your phone, go to the clock app, and find the
stopwatch. Click start. Now watch the seconds as they
climb. Three seconds come and go in a blink. At the thirtysecond mark, your mind starts to wander. One minute
passes, and you begin to think that this is taking a long
time. Two . . . three . . . . The clock ticks on. Then, finally,
you make it to four minutes. Hit stop.
Now imagine for that entire time, you are suffocating.
You want to breathe; you have to breathe. But you are
strapped to a gurney with a mask on your face pumping
your lungs with nitrogen gas. Your mind knows that the
gas will kill you. But your body keeps telling you to breathe.
That is what awaits Anthony Boyd tonight. For two to
four minutes, Boyd will remain conscious while the State of
Alabama kills him in this way. When the gas starts flowing, he will immediately convulse. He will gasp for air. And

When the gas starts flowing, he will immediately convulse. He will gasp for air. And

he will thrash violently against the restraints holding him
in place as he experiences this intense psychological torment until he finally loses consciousness. Just short of
twenty minutes later, Boyd will be declared dead.
Boyd asks for the barest form of mercy: to die by firing
squad, which would kill him in seconds, rather than by a
torturous suffocation lasting up to four minutes. The Constitution would grant him that grace. My colleagues do not.
This Court thus turns its back on Boyd and on the Eighth
Amendment’s guarantee against cruel and unusual punishment. Because the Court should have instead granted a
stay of execution and Boyd’s petition for certiorari, I respectfully dissent.

#SCOTUS denies a stay of execution to Alabama death-row prisoner Anthony Boyd, over *quite* a dissent from the three Democratic appointees, written by Justice Sotomayor, about the problems with nitrogen hypoxia as a method of execution:

If you want to understand propaganda you have to realize that what we call "reality" is really just mutually agreed upon hallucinations. Our sense of reality is easily manipulated by the creation of intersubjective hallucinations. They create "truth" that serves the interests of the propagandists.
