The Cost Of Reading Wendell Berry "Is it good?" is the question Wendell Berry constantly asks us. It's a question which demands a response.

Wendell Berry is one of the authors who has influenced my own writing the most - but there is a cost to reading him. And a significant one at that.

Just a reminder, as you look outside and notice it's already getting dark 😱, that today is the earliest sunset of the year (15:51 in London). From tomorrow the sunsets slowwwwly start getting later again. (Sunrises don't start getting earlier until Dec 30th hence solstice on 21st.) YOU ARE WELCOME.

We do ban kids from driving though?

Maybe banning smartphones is like trying to ban bikes?

I kinda feel like becoming Anglican is the logical endpoint of loving the Four Quartets. Eliots paen for the church of the soil... or something.

There's hope for evangelicals yet!

Why we need Advent: Christmas Commercialism β€œWhat’s going on with Black Friday this year?”, my wife asked me in Sainsbury’s the other week. We were walking past an advertising hoarding for some brand’s Black Friday deal. But it wasn’t Black …

I challenge you to find a better reflection on Advent.

Spoiler: you won't.

In the article it almost sounds like 50% of bishops thought that articles were unnecessary! Not exactly in accord with your thesis.

Thank you. This is a great read.

If there were only two bishops at the 1785 convention and one of them thought that articles are superfluous, how many bishops were there in TEC at that time?

Not sure how you feel about giving your stuff out for free, but if you feel like DM'ing over any handouts/notes from that session it sounds very interesting!

Tim Suffield with an excellent reflection on what the work of a pastor really is, via 𝐴𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑑 π‘Šπ‘–π‘ π‘‘π‘œπ‘š π‘“π‘œπ‘Ÿ π‘‘β„Žπ‘’ πΆπ‘Žπ‘Ÿπ‘’ π‘œπ‘“ π‘†π‘œπ‘’π‘™π‘  .

It strikes me that in the C of E it's the theology bit where we most come unstuck.

What a difference twelve months makes!
... Twelve months, plus enormous grant, loads of donations (thank you), and a ferocious amount of work.

The scaffold came down at St Lawrence’s, Gumfreston, Pembrokeshire recently, and we could hardly believe our eyes.
