This headline is how I felt when I saw another consultation announced for Great British Rail. The government is the dog from the burning room "This is fine" meme, releasing another consultation while performance & industry workbank burns to the ground. www.railfreight.com/railfreight/...

A reminder here: to get a reliable railway you need to invest in the infrastructure. Germany didnβt (enough) for 2 decades. Now finally itβs catching up. Whether the trains on that infra are publicly or privately run isnβt central to on-time performance.

Reliable-ish is completely dependent on who you ask. If your a Pax operator it doesnβt seem to be all that bad as an overall picture. But a freight haulier may have differing opinions on the matter!

Swiss trains more punctual than ever in 2024
In 2024, Swiss Federal Railways record best its ever punctuality rate, with 93.2% of trains were on time.
Yes, Swiss trains are reilable - with infrastructure maintenance that actually stops it from deteriorating. However, what stands out most to me is 98.7% of connections made. Do you know what ours is in the UK? No nor to I, and that is part of our problem. www.swissinfo.ch/eng/various/...

A change of scenery for this interRail.
Mainly due to the passholders fares to Brussels being sold out..
