Did the tapping with form taps. For me they are the way to go for small threaded holes in tough materials. Much less likely to break, and actually stronger threads. Works great in aluminum and stainless steel, no good in cast iron and less ductile metals.

Recently had trouble with small holes in stainless steel. So I decided to do a test with 14 #2-56 threaded holes, and 14 #4-40 threaded holes in 303 stainless. Note the 5 broken bits in the 0.078" holes. Sometimes you have to break some bits to get it right.

By the way, yesterday I tried a different cycle for measuring a tool with the tool setter. That different approach did not work very well.

Tauss is right, not a bad cut. You could sell the idea it was intended. At least if you were breaking endmills, it means you are spending time machining. So it was a good day.

I have my mother-in-law' on the bookshelf in the living room. She was a chemistry major in the 40s. They are awesome.

Took some time to get the machine fully installed. It is now up and running. It was cutting its first production part this week. A plate for the koma twa-160.

The machining videos can really suck you in. That is what got me started on maching, and now it is my job. Clickspring is simply amazing for the quality of the product and the quality of the video.

Rigging crew moving a 9-ton CNC machine through a hallway with a little room on each side to spare. So glad no one opened a door.
Man on the right in the video is controlling the remote controlled forklift, just cool.

I am seriously looking at the Mazak EZ 16x. It is a 5 axis machine with specs similar to a Haas UMC-500SS, but about 60% heavier. The EZ 16x costs more, but I assume it would have a higher resale value. If you have looked either of these machines, I would like to hear your thoughts.

Not clear from the photos, but cutting 3/8" 304 stainless on a Tomach 1100. Can not show the final part, because it is not my design, but after a learning curve, feeling good about be able to reliably produce accurate parts.

Just looked at your other posts and see you do some wonderful laser cutting. You mentioned this is metal, do you mind sharing what type and what laser cutter you used?

I agree, I do not think it is bribery. It is unethical. The Supreme Court does not pay well, and I support better pay for public servants in general. That said, this was well known to him when he took the job, so little sympathy for him and his bad ethical decisions.

Body cameras are a tool and their benefit will depend on how they are used. ProPublica does a great job showing we need clear policies on how they are used. Yet I am glad they are there and have shined a light on many cases. We need to ensure we are using this tool the right way.
