If the GP is being difficult change practice, for me it was the best thing. You can get Gout medication, preventer (Allopurinol), Flare up (Colchicine) pain meds (Naproxen) all via the post and private prescription. Not the most inexpensive way of getting what you need considering we have the NHS.
