Iโ€™m delighted to share that our latest research has just been published in HESS.

We developed an unsupervised workflow to estimate river surface velocities from videos. Testing on 11,000+ videos against 274 gauging measurements showed excellent agreement.

Last week we took 31 students to the Netherlands to look at physical geography, coastal processes, and climate change and adaption in action. Great to hear these student reflections that underscore how important field experience is to our discipline! @hassfacultyncl.bsky.social

Getting Lisflood to compile with GPU-accelerated solvers has reduced model runtime by 5-10x. If only I knew what I did differently for it to compile successfully compared to the dozen failed attempts. Guess Iโ€™ll be keeping this VM instance forever ๐Ÿคท

For this site we used a standard Hikvision camera connected to Raspberry Pi via Ethernet. Itโ€™s probably a bit out of date now but we produced a handbook to document the setup: www.dropbox.com/s/r3zx8xpvoc...
