Fashion drawing of a tall elegant woman in a yellow gingham dress

Years ago, when I first tried drawing my clothes, I used a much taller and thinner template. I don’t use a template nowadays, but I do take reference photos, which give a better idea of how the clothes look on a real body

Fashion drawing of a woman wearing a yellow gingham dress and a yellow cardigan

Drawing showing the details of the dress bodice, which is pintucked. The sleeves are elbow length and have frilled cuffs

Photo of a woman wearing a yellow and black gingham dress with black velvet trim on the skirt grills and the cuffs Collage of photos of a yellow cardigan made from a vintage pattern. Clockwise from top left: vintage “apple juice” lucite button; detail of the neck of the cardigan; a ball of Rico tweed wool, colour mustard; yellow tweedy cardigan on a hanger

I am starting to really need more colour in my life, so #TodayImWearing a yellow dress. This is really old, and I love it. It is quite a heavy gingham, with a velvet ribbon trim. When it’s chilly, I wear it with a cardigan I knitted myself

Jam, absolutely. Buttercream can be troublesome if you’re not practiced at making/using it. I’d play safe for the birthday, and get some practice in before the next “occasion”

Just started this. Hoping to finish by the end of the week. 500 odd pages though, and so many Russian names

It's Mothering Sunday in a week's time! If your mother's no longer around it can be hard. I will as usual be reading out the names of our Remembered Mums/Mams/Moms from halfway up this beauty - the Ashton Memorial in Lancaster. If you'd like me to read out your Mum's name, reply with #Mums26 ❤️ 👑

Black and white photo of of a girl aged about eight, sitting on the stone steps up to the front door of a dilapidated old terraced house, which was demolished a few years after the photo was taken. A black cat is sitting on the low wall at the top of the steps

Disembodied stone head guarding a side door of St George’s Cathedral in Southwark. The door is behind a securely fastened wrought iron gate and has an arched stone surround

#SundayPixStone

Don’t know who this chap is. Possibly a pope, judging by the triple crown, and the fact that he’s guarding a Roman Catholic cathedral door
