A somewhat psychedelic linocut of a hare

I have two - TWO - of these gorgeous original A4 meadow hare linoprints by my mum, Jo, to give away to a couple of lucky people here on Bluesky today.

Rules are simple: to be in with a chance to win, you just have to repost this piece I wrote about Jo and her art: www.tom-cox.com/the-magic-ro...

Series 3 of the Northern Ireland cop show Blue Lights ends tonight - I've written about why it's so good but why the portrayal of intelligence or the military on TV struggles to match it t.co/IACsiRgTaX

Our poor terrified pooch is currently hiding behind the bath which for a 25kg Lurcher requires quite a bit of dexterity. Poor pup miserable. :( Surely fireworks should only be in licenced displays

We’d love people’s input to this! πŸ‘‡ Where are the UK public sector reformers?

Help map the movement so that we can work out together how best to support it.

Grateful for RTs

My old office has hosted Blue Lights for both its station & solicitors offices & private members’ club. Great show, but sadly missed building

The value of public R&D

Government has published one of those quiet but important documents that might get overlooked as it is not 'newsy'. The headline finding is that Β£1 of public R&D investment generates Β£8 in net economic benefits for the UK over the long term

Where are the public sector reformers? Can you help us find them?

At @kinship.works, we thought we'd try to map the different public sector reform 'tribes' & where to find them (orgs, events, networks/communities, online spaces, newsletters/publications/podcasts etc) - but we need your help!

I don't think enough people talk about how great BBC Bitesize is. Secondary school textbooks are now vanishingly rare and Bitesize content is (a) not in a terrible app, (b) engaging and interesting and easy to understand, and importantly (c) FREE. A properly great digital public good.

Matt Stout's map indicating the widespread distribution of over 47,000 early medieval ringforts - raths, cashels and enclosures throughout Ireland. There are also at least c.2,000 crannΓ³gs, and c.5,500 early medieval church sites, and probably 1000s of early medieval burial or cemetery sites)

Stand six to ten feet back from the baggage carousel and move forward when you spot your bag coming, rather than all rushing up to block access and crowd the conveyor belt.

The silver bullet fallacy [FREE TO READ] The idea that a lot of problems are difficult to fully solve doesn’t mean we should stop trying

We keep being told "there are no silver bullets". Nonsense. There are plenty of silver bullets. If they're not working as well as you hoped, perhaps you're not shooting at a werewolf.

In principle doable, but extremely complex. We did some really interesting work around potholes, w image recognition & assessment & prioritisation. But it’s *really* difficult to allow for human judgement & uncertainty

No issue with properly organised firework events, but random households setting them off throughout the year is a curse.
