This is true! Authentic punk still exists, but also, like anything, it's a medium for which it entirely depends on what your message is that makes it rebellious or not. Which is why when I see posts like "Ai is punk" or a popular form of entertainment is "punk", I just role my eyes.

Also, do you really need to feel like a rebel for liking something? That feels like teenage logic, the kind that misplaces actual activism instead for clique-logic where you are better than someone else for the clothes you wear, the music you listen to, etc. It's self-serving.

"This is punk rock" has to be one of the most empty statements nowadays. People want to feel rebellious or unique and outside the norm for liking something. And they apply it to things that do not by definition make you a rebel for liking them.
