The software made no mistake. It stopped, saw other cars were proceeding, asked for help, and the human said go.

You know exactly what you were trying to do with your post. You were trying to portray this as a self-driving issue when the NTSB report found that it was a human error issue.

Read the article, IMO.

It was humans - not the software - at fault.

β€œThe NTSB said the Waymo stopped for the bus but then other vehicles passed the bus, which prompted the Waymo to ask a human remote assistance operator if it was "a school bus with active signals?" and the agent said no, and then Waymo passed the bus.”

An endorsement is not a reward. It’s a stamp of approval the signals a candidate is aligned with an organization. Either AHLA messed up here, or they’re not pro-housing. One of the two.

Have you listened to Durazo speak? She’s a NIMBY true believer. As a County Supervisor, there won’t be any leadership to rein her in. She will be able to vote however she wants and I am very confident those votes will be against housing.

After being rolled in her own committee and under tremendous pressure from leadership.

This is a very odd endorsement from @abundanthousingla.bsky.social. Last year, Durazo helped lead the opposition to SB79.

Isn’t this happening in Santa Monica with SB9 or SB1123 projects?

TIL that most snow plows in New York City are just regular garbage trucks with snow plots temporarily attached in front. And those who drive the plows are the same sanitation workers who drive the garbage trucks every other non snow day of the year. Interesting!

I didn't know about them until I saw others tweeting about them today but they seem to be well regarded. Here’s what Claude says.

I'm partial to the cost of living explanation myself but that doesn't explain why Boston and NY are stable while we are not. Something else is going on.

And by the way this really is a uniquely California problem. Here are other major cities. NY and Boston have cost of living pressures just like here. What's going on? Why is spending here so out of control?

And it's not just public safety. This is true of basically every category of spending. Here's government administration. Why are Seattle, Portland, etc. able to keep these under control while we are not?

It's underdiscussed how spending has exploded in California in a way that it has not anywhere else in nearby states. Very hard to believe that we have a revenue problem when looking at these numbers.

I remember certain members of Left-Left-NIMBY Twitter enthusiastically retweeting this account a while back.

LA is a failed city. Free money but they have to give it back because they were incapable of spending it in a reasonable timeframe. There’s basically nothing the city can do right anymore.

β€œI don’t support it but I’m voting for it” makes no sense.

Naw, Nithya is far more qualified and capable.

You don’t work for Housing Now unless you’re a true believer IMO. They should use their energy on helping Nithya instead

This is always how it would go. The state fire marshall has no incentive to do anything but the bare minimum.
