Then we have Arabic and Hebrew, which—okay firstly not only are you using letters that are so stylistically different from Latin, but you’re GOING THE WRONG WAY. In Arabic’s case, do the letters connect? Do they not? WHO KNOWS.

I decline to mention Mongolian at this time.

Now we’re getting properly crazy—Ethiopian? Wild. Armenian? Out there. Burmese? Literally how do you make these look like Latin letters? Props to you for choosing scripts that at least vibe with Latin.

Honorable mentions to Hindustani/Tibetic scripts because that line is gonna break your flow bad.

Following we have the Nordic runes, old Phoenician script, Egyptian hieroglyphs, and the like; the ones that are ancient versions of what the Latin alphabet would become today. There’s some resemblance there to modern letters, which is both a good and bad thing.

Next we have a group of alphabets I’m calling ”Latin-adjacent,” which encompasses the Cyrillic and Hellenic scripts. Since they have upper- and lower-case letters and are used the most frequently ”for the aesthetic,” it can lead to some hilarious situations like the infamous ”HЯ” department.

Rating alphabets other than English on how cursed it is to use them for the ✨aesthetic✨, from least to most cursed:

First, any alphabet that’s just Latin with a few diacritical characters. It’s awkward if you know how to pronounce them (see Twenty Øne Piløts) but nothing too sacrilegious.

Sometimes you can’t say no because a part of you *wants* it, even though the rest of you doesn’t, and that’s enough to keep you engaged because the feeling of CNC is that addictive.

Anyone into CNC needs to be aware of this and handle these situations with care. Otherwise you end up hurting.

I’m into CNC and depend highly on safewords, but there have been a few instances where I’ve unintentionally taken the other person’s ability to use those safewords. I’ve also been in that position myself. It’s a horrible place to be, and it’s part of why I’m into CNC to begin with.

Something I wish I didn’t have to learn the hard way—from both sides—is that it is *so easy* to be put in a situation where for whatever reason, your ability to withdraw consent is unavailable to you.

Sometimes no is not an option, and you can’t reach for it as much as you want to.
