And not to be a downer but like…I finalized my divorce a couple months ago. The loneliness is definitely not helping tbh…especially when I’m working 30+ hours a week b/w two jobs, doing school, AND the world’s on fire. It’s all a very bad combination.

Anyone else’s depression getting like 10x worse lately? Idk if it’s the news cycle or just my general life but it all feels so heavy rn.

Stephen Fry’s “Troy” has to be one of my favorite tellings of the Trojan War. Listened to it over the past several weeks and throughly enjoyed his discussion of various topics and themes addressed in the story!

Alrighty friends, librarians and theologians alike, I’m looking to both do a panel and then likely an academic paper on the intersections (and diversions) of theological and library ethics. I’d like to tap as many brilliant folks as possible for this. Who should I read and/or ask for their help?? ⚓️

Yeah it’s just a generic parish potluck. I’m thinking either a vegetarian Levantine rice dish or vegetarian chili! Now to decide on whether to make just enough or enough to feed a small army. Maybe I could email and ask how attendance was tonight and base it on that?

So I missed tonight’s Lenten potluck event because I straight up forgot that it was even happening. However I’m planning to make time next week to go. Thing is…idk what to bring or how many people will be there. Do I go simple and playful or fun and big? Help I haven’t done a potluck in years! ⚓️

I accidentally signed up for a 7 AM Pilates class at my gym in their app while putting my phone in my pocket after looking at available classes for the week and I guess I could cancel it but also I need to become social so let’s see how it goes waking up at 6 AM to go to the gym. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah. I mean I’ve had bad experiences with the process but I truly believe you need to hear from priests at this stage who bring joy and love to their ministry.

I haven’t had great experiences in the process and would NEVER tell someone to seek out negative opinions like that. I hope you keep them in your prayers and follow up with priest that bring joy and light to their ministry.

My late father had me watch “The Mission”, “Becket”, and “The Apostle” all in one weekend. Very different vibes from each but all important to my future faith formation!

I’ve been saying this so much!! In my academic libraries class we keep talking about “return on investment” as if it’s not a thing we should fight against but rather we must accept and work within. Maybe I’m just too naive to understand but I don’t think accepting the status quo here is very smart.

A logical outcome of seeing higher education as merely credentialing rather than formative is to look for shortcuts to achieve the credential.

I took sleep meds for the first time in weeks and then I woke up too late for church on the first Lenten Sunday that happens to also be the bishop’s visit mere weeks before I meet with the associate rector to discuss the ord process after being MC for my uncle’s funeral yesterday. 🙃🙃🙃

Like my mother desperately doesn’t want it to be “too serious” but like…idk dude death and the grief that comes with losing someone is pretty damn serious to me and I want to honor that and give space for it.

I’m the MC for my uncle’s funeral Saturday and while he never gave instructions, the rest of the family seems to want it to be “happy with a side of Jesus” so I’m doing as I’m told but idk…happy funerals feel weird to me.

Desmond Tutu once said “if you remain neutral in the face of injustice then you are on the side of the oppressor” and I think about that so often as I’m in this library program. ⚓️

Like I have deeply held beliefs and opinions about things like human rights and I have to realize I can’t wear my heart on my sleeve like that in a professional capacity anymore. Idk…it’s just tough to see and hear injustice and having an ethical obligation to remain neutral in the face of it.

Like #7 in the ALA ethics code is “We distinguish between our personal convictions and professional duties and do not allow our personal beliefs to interfere with fair representation of the aims of our institutions or the provision of access to their information resources.” That’s hard stuff…

Oh for sure! But the differences in ethical codes definitely stick out to me. ALA’s code of ethics has a definite emphasis on remaining “neutral” in the face of people’s research and their rights but like…in theology having opinions is kind of the whole thing. So it’s just interesting to me.

Ethics in libraries and theological ethics having overlap but also distinct differences makes my brain hurt as a library student. ⚓️

It’s uh…it’s intense even at the rec league level. Once the players learn how to shoot 60+ mph…it starts to get to be a lot lol. My ears still ring after some of those shots hitting my helmet!

Ash Wednesday last night was so moving AND ALSO can churches have kneelers that don’t kill my knees please? I wanted to kneel for the Litany and Psalm 51 but goodness I just couldn’t do it. Idk maybe it’s being an old hockey goalie. But I just can’t do it on kneelers that have max 1/4” padding.
