First day back in English lectures is going well

The hole in the ozone layer was actually very serious and a global effort allowed it to recover. Y2K WAS actually a serious problem and people worked countless hours to make sure nobody even noticed. Air and water pollution was catastrophic in many places and incredible effort reversed that damage.

It's a flawed system where people are just trying to do what they can with what they have. It's commendable but unsustainable.
At the end of the day, creatives have bills to pay like everyone else. The arts need more funding on a federal level if we want to see more cool things be made

Indie project development is in a grey space where on one hand, you want creative projects to be made and for creators to pursue their passions.
But on the other hand, indie projects should not be entitled to exploiting creatives in order to make them happen.

Indie projects are incredible testaments to passion, but they're seldom lucrative enough to afford the production costs to pay their teams appropriately.
Creators don't usually have $100K-$1M+ lying around to pay their teams even minimum wages, which is why they largely rely on volunteer/free work

I love indie. But it's riddled with issues as much as large established companies are— little to no pay, expected unpaid overtime, work for 'exposure', poor management/communication, no benefits/protections, toxicity, and more

Indie is just not THE viable alternative that folks make it out to be
