One of the VPs just started humming "La Negra." Like Pavlov's dogs, my fee tt started tapping out the opening steps.
I miss dancing. I am in no shape to dance like that. But certain dances will forever remain in my muscle memory... not just my feet, either. They are embedded into all of me.

Mark Kelly represents something he can never be: somebody who served in actual combat. Kegsbreath served in civil affairs operations, an important task to be sure, but it's not combat and Kegsbreath is jealous. He wants to pretend to be a tough guy, but doesn't have the credentials to back that up.

Do the people who run the USA Hockey site even realize the Women's Team also won gold? It isn't even mentioned on their home page, but the men sure do get the spotlight. Yeah, yeah, first time in however many years. Whoopee. And the women, who consistently medal... crickets.

Equally minor: I was rushing around, helping out at a friend's wedding. It was raining buckets. I skidded around a corner and nearly crashed into Norm Macdonald, who was touring the venue. He was super nice about it and apologized for being in our way.

Working at the ren faire in Devore many years ago, we (castmates & I) were hanging out near, right near the walkway, playing a game where we tried to spit cherry pits into a bowl. A lady dressed like a barbarian came up and asked if she could join. I said "sure!" Turns out it was Claudia Christian.

Today, in shit we could have told him before he put that out in public... Ugh.

Oh wow! I need to find that episode and watch it! That's awesome!

And yeah, as much as the 80s teen movies were part of my tween and teen years, there are a lot that I just can't watch anymore because they give me the ick.

It puts me in mind of Maxfield Parrish paintings from when he was in Arizona.

Oddly enough, I never managed to see the Milky Way when I lived in Santa Cruz (went to college there). But I did first see it in San Luis Obispo while attending a Renaissance Faire.

My most recent sighting was at the summer camp I volunteer at. The power was out first night, and behold! Milky Way!

That said, a lot of them turn into object lessons in how views have changed. So he gets to endure Lectures From Mom and Dad while viewing the more problematic ones. Or at the least, comments about how very wrong certain aspects are.

First - my husband introduced me to Undercover Blues. It is now part of our movie quote shorthand.

Second - It is super situational for me with having my kiddo watch the problematic movies. Revenge of the Nerds is also off our list. Also, Sixteen Candles. I just can't.

They complain about "cancel culture" and then do their not-so-level-headed best to cancel a performer because *gasp* he sings songs in Spanish. Noted.

Current read: What Moves the Dead by T Kingfisher. Third go-round. I previously read it and later, did the audiobook version. I don't normally like horror, but I love her writing style. I'll follow up with What Feasts at Night, and then on to What Stalks the Deep. Perfect for spooky season!

Recently finished: Daindreth's Sorceress by Elizabeth Wheatley. I like that she doesn't let the story drag too much. Some of the stuff at the end was damn brutal... but honestly, that's to be expected when you're dealing with demons, assassins, and a regime change.

So, okay, I might have been doing a deep dive on romantic comedies right now. Meghan Quinn is pretty good, though I've DNF'd a couple of her books now.

Then perhaps the AI industry doesn't deserve to exist.

I think what probably stopped them was that the house needed mold remediation for sure... and likely in every room... thanks to all the carpet on the floors and walls.

I've been very happy to note all of the positive things the college district I work for has been doing for students, staff, and faculty. It's a much more supportive environment than when I first worked here.

Aaaah! I need to catch up. I caught last season and it was so much fun. The house with all the carpet! I wanted them to win, but I know that was probably too much work to fix.

I just preordered! And now I know what I'll be reading after I finish my current book. Gotta read the first two Alex Easton books so I can read the third.

The Somewhat Bearable Lightness of Being

and it had some amazing social commentary that can be applied to today's world. Naturally, my favorite character is Bob. IYKYK. Long live Bob! Second favorite? The Bad Cookies. Heheheh!

I think kiddo enjoyed it, though he always has his headphones on to cancel out all the road noise thanks to me having no A/C.

The audiobook is tons of fun, and I found little bits of things here and there that I hadn't noticed on my first read-through. It's a fun story, involves my favorite hobby,

Completed (over the weekend):
A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking (audiobook) - I listened to this as often as possible when my kiddo and I were on longer drives... which happens a lot, actually. I had read the book previously, which got me to read a bunch more @tkingfisher.com books.

I am so busting this out at the next family gathering. My mom is a geneticist, so this should lead to all sorts of fun/awkward conversation for the less science-minded in my family.
