Last week I participated in a town wide evacuation drill in Stinson Beach. I walked down the hill with my go bag. I was told twice that I should have brought my car, and that if I get stuck in a traffic jam, I should just sit there in my car. I beat the entire line of traffic to the staging area.

'Corn sweat' will add to punishing heat, humidity in Midwest this week. The process is officially known as evapotranspiration, which is how plants, including corn, release water vapor into the atmosphere.

Among other things she taught me about "corn sweat," which sadly isn't (yet?) an Iowa punk band.
