What IS the deal with crosswalks anyway? I remember when TGS and other neighborhoods started paying to get custom crosswalks painted, and suddenly there was this big outcry, as if they had violated some sacred trust.

Isn't it just pathetic that we even need training to tell us what to do in that situation?

The bummer is he really WANTS to cuddle, but his manners aren't great.. Thus, the target of his affection usually gets a muzzle full of distressing moist before they can access the warm cuddle curls. It is very jarring.

My son's dog - a standard-sized goldendoodle - is staying with us for a few days. He is very curly-fluffy and looks like he would be so much fun to cuddle. However, somehow there is ALWAYS part of him (usually his chin) that is surprisingly and unexpectedly wet.

Seriously, friends... If you are submitting an application with a writing sample that is flush with em-dashes... I don't know what to tell you. We are reasonably certain that's not your writing. That's ChatGPT. Come on, now. At least go back and edit.

A photo of Susanna taken against a photo backdrop displaying a street in Pompeii.
Incidentally, local friends: if you haven't seen the Science Center's exhibit on Pompeii, definitely go. It's extremely well done, and (despite the levity in the photo of my daughter) very moving.

A photo of an elementary school notebook page on which my son has drawn a picture of himself and his lab partner looking at a plant in what appears to be a clear cup. Underneath it says, "Now my plant's leaf is bigger. My node is now a root."
Today I'm putting together a list of stuff we need for my youngest as we prepare for him to leave for college. I have lots of feelings, of course, but I ran across this picture of his second grade science notebook. We are sending him into the world equipped with the important stuff, at least.

Dr. Catrina Adams speaking during the plenary of Botany 2025 in Palm Springs, California.
Another great moment for us at #Botany2025! When we learned our plenary speaker would be unable to speak as planned, Dr. Catrina Adams stepped up and gave the plenary in her place. She did an AMAZING job of highlighting PlantingScience's 20 years of supporting plant education!
