When Heywood calls there's never enough projects!
04.03.2026 19:14 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0This kit is intended to be a diesel locomotive based on the BR Class 04, scaled down to Minimum Gauge as a sort of "What if" BR had built 15inch gauge railways instead of standard gauge railways, specifically when fitted with tramskirts for road running. Designed to fit the Kato 11-109 chassis.
"Arthur" is a tramway locomotive in the style of Sir Arthur Heywood locomotives for use on minimum gauge tramways and mineral lines. If minimum gauge had taken off, a few probably would have housed tram engines running the lines that weaved through streets and farmlands. To that end, many would have to be adapted to suit, thus the Heywood Tram. Bolted on side plates to stop any sheep or badgers from getting underneath the locomotive during travel! This kit is intended as a tram version of the Heywood "Shelagh" and "Ursula" locomotive which ran at Eaton Hall, to fit the KATO 11-109.
As minimum gauge railways took hold over the years, the UKs most heavy industrial lines needed to modernise quickly in order to keep up with the world. In 1952, several of these types were supplied by Drewry Car Co, to be used as departmental diesel shunters in the various yards, quarries or tramways. The class was widely used by BMR (British Minimum Railways), being the popular choice for shunter. Though due to a large amount of surplus, the class started to see a big decline as larger diesel locomotives started being built; such as the "Ashford" class. They found another popular spot in heritage railways through the years, as a number of them are preserved. This kit is intended to be a diesel locomotive based on the BR Class 04, scaled down to Minimum Gauge as a sort of "What if" BR had built 15inch gauge railways instead of standard gauge railways. Designed to fit the Graham Farish 08 chassis.
Got a triple release!

In the meantime why not check out our store? We got some new releases coming shortly!

A digital render of some railway and tabletop models, coloured and displayed in a fashion that creates a scene. Snow is pouring down as presents have been spilled all over the tracks.
"A mishap with shunting duties, somehow they've managed to spill all the presents! Weird business strategy this. But then the railway is also ran by sentient animals so who am I to judge?"
Merry Christmas all!
A silly render to see what I could make in time for the season.
All three resin printed kits come with a single piece body, a tender body and x2 metal axles wheels (with x4 resin wheels attached).

There's something very charming about the clunky white metal kits but agreed they are a pain to put together sometimes 😅
