Nooooo! I can't tell you how many memories I have of going to get lox and cheeses and wandering the aisles to look at cakes and cookies. One of my favorite places. He brought us a lot of joy and I know his memory will be for a blessing.

This gentleman went on to be the head of pediatrics at Duke University and that don't impress me much. I dunno, maybe he improved over the years? I last met him in around 1995 or so. Maybe he grew and learned. It's always possible.

Look, my husband was *thrilled to help with feeding the kids overnight and that's how the kids and I survived.

I still miss O, who sang the sheva braches at our wedding and was generally a mensch of the highest order. He was a big factor in me realizing that you could do Jewish cultural practices and not be an ass. (Not the only one, I'm thinking of a Chabad rabbi in Columbia too.)

This may be why I never warmed up to this particular friend of my in-laws. Also, he and his wife were kinda condescending in general and treated me like "Avi's girlfriend" and not a person in my own right. I'm sure you're shocked.

This, if you don't know, was kind of the middle of the first breast vs. bottle debate, so my MIL was very excited to get her choice validated by this important researcher.

I'm in the mood to tell a story. Now, this happened back in the 1960s, but honestly, it could have happened at any time. My MIL was pregnant with one of the boys and chatting with a friend of theirs, who was a pediatrician at a univ med school. He asked if she was planning to breast or bottlefeed.

I love my sister. I love her even more as I watch my husband struggle to care for his father while his three brothers kibitz and complain. My sister resisted the urge to second guess me and backed up everything I did for our parents. She also showed up when I needed her and did what had to be done.

I love knitting hats and scarves and donating them. The other day, someone who'd been a recipient of what might have been one of my hats, told me how much it meant when she was given a hand-knitted hat. The idea that someone had gone to the trouble made her feel good and that made *me* feel good!

I love air conditioning. And fans, both hand fans and electric fans. Oh, and ice packs. Maybe this one only makes sense if you've been pregnant or in perimenopause (or both) but if not for those things, I would have thrown myself off a cliff over the summer. Gods, I love cold air.

My work with JUFJ continues to bring me joy, even when it's sometimes frustrating. It reminds me that there *are* good people in the world and we're doing the best we can, even in difficult circumstances. I love the other leaders and the staff and everyone ❤️ We're doing our part to make MoCo better.

Kosei and Sorato from Ultraman Omega being adorbs

Another TV show bringing me joy is Ultraman Omega. These two utterly ridiculous boys, one human and one alien, are charming and fun and I love them. The conceit of the Ultra losing his memory is clever and funny and I adore Kosei's need to take care of him, even when Sorato drives him batty.

There are so many good books and good authors and things to read and reread. I'm currently reading a Nora Roberts romantic fantasy and I was recently rereading some of MCA Hogarth's amazing Peltedverse and I have Mary Roach's new book on hold at the library, so I'm waiting impatiently for that.

I love food! Despite the, let's say, challenges of food in this house, I've still had some amazingly yummy things. I've learned to make really good broth as a base for noodles or rice or chicken or congee or whatever. I had the best watermelon in the universe. I've eaten fab sushi. Food is good :)

As always, my kids (biological and not) give me hope. Yael is the fussiest and most adorbs 20-year-old. Barak is *rocking* the school year so far, showing some personal growth. A is at college and so far, so good ::fingers crossed:: I love them all so much and they're why I keep going.

The Gozyugers are in pajamas for a "confessional" episode that featured some cut footage of Ryugi (Yellow) in his pajamas. Sumino looks spiffy, Rikuo suprisingly normal in blue, Ryugi in bright yellow, Hoeru in a red tracksuit, Mashiro in elegant white, and Kinjiro in an old-fashioned outfit, of course.

The current sentai series running in Japan is a bright spot in my life, especially the little bonus "confessional" episodes. Gozyuger is, as Barak said yesterday quite seriously, The Most. Just the most. But the characters are adorable and everyone seems to be having fun and I adore it.

I've been so grouchy that I think it's time to do another "things that make me happy" thread. One like=one thing that makes me happy + explanation and maybe pictures.
