Excited to be speaking at the Festival of Education.
I’ll be sharing work from my PhD project with the Milner Centre for Evolution.
We’ll explore misconceptions, strategies and what research says about improving understanding of evolution.

Is there a cooler way to enter your workspace for the day? 🚀
I’m at the HIAS Primary Science Conference today, running workshops at the Winchester Science Centre to share my Evoscope PhD project.
A great day of curiosity, creativity, and primary science in action.

Being pushed to choose between your values and your role at the BBC is unfair and painful. The fact that you chose compassion and solidarity speaks volumes about who you are. I’m really sorry you’re going through this, and I want you to know how supported you are.

Clades and Clades Prehistoric
The evolutionary card game.
For years I pondered how to make a game about evolution, and my answer is Clades. Players match animals according to their positions on the evolutionary tree of life. Everyone plays at once so it’s fast. FWIW, I get royalties on this one. Kids love animals! #evolution

Oh no! We have tickets and are really looking forward to it. We can’t get to London easily living in deepest darkest Wiltshire, so a massive thank you for trying to ensure accessibility.

How to bring experimental evolution to the classroom
Pupils of all ages can benefit from witnessing evolution in real time - and it’s now possible in schools, say this researcher from the University of Bath
It's Evolution Fact Friday! Did you know that you can see evolution happening in real time? Our @bethmorillo-hall.bsky.social & @taylorlabgroup.bsky.social have developed #Evoscope, an education package for teachers to bring the process of evolution to life in real time!

Thank you! It’s been a real team effort. I’m very lucky to have such amazing supervisors and lab group behind this. The content and activities are aimed at students aged 8-16. It may be a bit simplistic for years 12/13. Having said that, it would be great for those who may have misconceptions/gaps.
