But yeah it's kind of incredible that when someone is struggling our society just says, "Have you tried to stop sucking?" And that's where support starts and ends lol.

Bootstrap culture is silly, and I'm 99% sure I worked harder than any of these people in undergrad when I was taking a full courseload while also working 60 hours a week and eating 1 meal a day bc I was food insecure.

I made a lot of mistakes during my last 2 months employed bc burnout completely wrecked my ability to pay attention to detail, even when I really really tried to triple check things, and one of my coworkers was like, "I'm not criticizing u, but ur making a lot of mistakes. So just stop doing that."

The real answer is bc I have like 3 mental health conditions that make burnout excruciating and very difficult to recover from without genuine, adequate rest 🤷 I can't help if you equate that with being lazy. That's a you problem.

We all have different abilities and different capacities, no need to shame someone for theirs running out during a time of acute mental and emotional distress.

Idk what ppl at work ever wanted me to say when towards the end when everything rly deteriorated & they were like, "I get up every day & do my job even tho I'm tired, so why can't you?" Like idk because I suck? Bc you're better than me? Bc you are more deserving of a good life? Which one do u want?

I went to take my meds but forgot what I was doing and instead brushed my teeth, which I'd already done. Well played, ADHD brain.

My industry is having major staffing issues (9+ months to hire replacements), and the co *still* went the route of managing me out.

I mean, I was fired for having cancer two weeks after receiving a merit raise, so that should tell all of us working folks that nothing is beyond the pale for corporations.

The biggest deterrent from quitting was always the health insurance, but I finally couldn't take it anymore and just said, "I'll go off the damn meds if I have to, just get me out of here"

I take so many meds these days and one of them is $5,000 per month without insurance so I really hope I find an ACA plan that covers all of it or else have a job within the next 87 days (that's what I have left of it).

This was at a company that Takes Mental Health Very Seriously too. They care in theory but don't want to deal with any of the messes or complications that actually come with an employee crashing and burning at work.

Also never trust HR, never speak to HR, never even look at HR. They are not on your side.
