Been seeing multiple Southeast Asians complaining about white people behaving in entitled ways & doing cultural disrespect in temples & tourist destinations in Southeast Asia.

But yet when we Asians are in the West, those same white people exhort us to “integrate” and “assimilate” into society.

Chinese diaspora living in the West are in a very interesting place geopolitically. We are caught between watching the hegemon nation of the West - the USA - descend into chaos while our ancestral homeland - China - is consolidating its power in a bid for hegemony itself.

If Gen Z men want kids so bad they can adopt some kids who are in foster care & who desperately need a good home & raise them as single dads.

This isn’t new, but the recent uptick of those situations is concerning.

In the aftermath of the Tumbler Ridge shooting, the shooter's trans identity has prompted disinformation the BC Human Rights Commissioner called "incorrect, irresponsible and frankly dangerous."

But other rumours have pinned the shooter's motive on far-right ideology — an explanation experts doubt.

What We Know So Far About the Tragedy in Tumbler Ridge | The Tyee Police have identified the shooter who killed eight, then themselves, in the northeastern community.

It has been confirmed by media that the murderer in question is Jesse Van Rootselaar, an 18-year-old trans woman with far-right ideologies. I've been able to confirm that they had Nazi symbols on their Twitter profile, including racist tweets and death threats towards Indians. Van Rootselaar's behaviour in no way reflects the behavior of trans people as a community, and we unequivocally condemn both her actions and attempts by far-right and right-wing media and social media to blame trans people, as a group, for the fact that this shooting occurred.

Difficult conversations will have to be had in the next few days. We, as a community, stand with Tumbler Ridge, and stand in solidarity with each and every one of the persons injured in this senseless, heinous act, and the families of each and every one of the persons whose lives were cut short. We equally reject any attempts at instrumentalizing this shooting to blame a minority group, already the targets of countless heinous acts and B.C.'S first-and-only ever use of the notwithstanding clause of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, for this act.

We stand with Tumbler Ridge.

The shooter’s identity will likely be used in legislatures across Canada to argue against life-saving medical care for young people, inclusive education in schools and the outlawing of harmful conversion therapy practices.
