Every time I talk to someone outside of Minnesota, we always spend time on *really* basic things they have don’t understand about what is happening here.

So let’s do a Q&A. What are your most basic questions about what’s going on in Minnesota?

After being held in two of them as a boy, I fought for decades urging America to never again build concentration camps and put human beings in them. It breaks my heart to watch this happen twice now in my own lifetime.

I heard those buildings were colloquially called "the crack stacks" ~40 years ago which sounds like some racist bullshit but I don't disbelieve it. And it definitely wouldn't make sense for today. I got nothing

I have lived in Minneapolis for 20 years and this post is the first time I have ever heard it called that.

Somebody on our enormous #TwinCitiesGeeks Facebook group pointed out how the group spontaneously switched to "Rebellion mode" as if the 30,000+ members had been watching Star Wars their entire lives.

You can get an appliance-grade extension cord at the hardware store. They're more expensive than regular extension cords because they can carry a higher load.

I would argue that the case for dismantling ICE has, at this point, virtually nothing to do with larger questions of immigration enforcement and reform, it's just clearly incompatible with a free and democratic society to maintain a secret police force with sweeping and arbitrary authority.

Minnesota is "your skin will freeze and die" cold right now, and apparently ICE is just dumping beaten detainees out in the woods around the Whipple Building. Journalists are working on confirming these reports, but these stories are coming from local medical workers.

Ben Luhmann, who filmed this, is one of the two high schoolers from a conservative Christian family I rode along with in Chicago when they were searching for ICE agents there.

Nasra Ahmed, a 23-year-old US citizen, was arrested and detained by ICE. She was held for TWO DAYS.

ICE agents handcuffed her, called her a racial slur, and she was knocked to the ground so hard she got a concussion.

This cannot continue happening. ICE needs to leave.

Klobuchar, in particular, is absolutely begging for any remotely plausible challenger who is willing to express the anger Minnesotans are currently feeling. I’m over the border now, but I can feel the towering rage like a bonfire on an icy lake

After the last couple of weeks, any Democrat who isn’t willing to say that ICE needs to be disbanded is going to be EXTREMELY vulnerable to a primary this year. There are a LOT of electeds who are light years behind their constituents right now.
