The extraordinary thing is that as came up multiple times during the vote, if you applied to change your marker back the moment this bill was signed, you still wouldn’t have had enough time to comply. The sponsor’s response was that people should have considered it before when changing markers.

Of course isn’t just driving. It’s voting. Working. Travelling. Picking up a package. Applying for credit. Applying for a job. Renting a room. Filling prescriptions. Visiting loved ones in the hospital. Not expired either, but legally invalid.

As of tonight, licenses of trans people across Kansas are being invalidated en masse, enabling the overnight criminalization of an entire group of people for going about our lives. It’s often said you never know when you’re living through history, so let me assure you: that’s what’s happening now.

Just to note, invalidating Jews' passports was about where the inflection point where the Nazis started rounding up jews.

They always come for porn because it's the thing people are least likely to be vocally in support of, but the tools they use to restrict porn are always used against everyone for all sorts of things you'd never in a million years describe as pornographic. You'd just call them free speech.
