The trope in commercials I hate the most is the one where someone’s on a PA system and the brand evangelist grabs the mic and turns a surprised crowd around to the product.

Like, people in Northern and Southern California pronounce cities in THE SAME STATE differently. What are the odds someone from the Outer Rim and someone from a planet 100 million miles away are pronouncing things the same? WE ON EARTH DON’T EVEN ALL PRONOUNCE “URANUS” THE SAME.

What you never see in Star Wars are mundane conversations between aliens from two systems.

Alien 1: “yeah he said he was from Coruscant.”

Alien 2: “dude, it’s cor-oo-saant.”

Alien 1: “we always said cor-ah-skant at the galactic knob factory.”

Alien 2: “well you and your knob-twiddlers are wrong”

I don’t know why but as a kid, the combo of the song and the image of Mike at the gravestone used to make me cry.

I’m going to ask a brain-dead question but we’re supposed to have a system with checks and balances, and ways to fight this. Is there no check/balance and how can it be fought with any sort of expectation that the fight is worth it?
