Hmmm, well done, but a bit tame?

That was fun. Well played and sung, and an entertaining production. No stage characters to really get invested in though, which means even arias like “Ah! Mio cor!” don’t resonate as much as they can.

Seeing these artists on the concert tour accompanying this release in Amsterdam on Sunday. Can’t wait. Totally my cup of tea, with my kind of musicians. #baroque #ListeningNow

No idea what to expect, but I’m off to Netherlands Bach Society’s Opera Circus (staged) production at The Hague’s Theatre Royal no less. We’ll see. Perhaps it’s the kind of thing even Timothée Chalamet could get in to… #Baroque #LiveTheatre

That’s what is so surprising. You don’t expect this from a performing artist. Though I suppose the reporting about opera and ballet in the media (or lack thereof) doesn’t help. Inevitably these are the kinds of views that will surface.

Just saw The Godfather in the cinema. It had been over 30 years since I’d seen it, and I really wasn’t prepared for how dull it is. It is really just a soap opera with men taking themselves too seriously and killing each other. Also, Brando is okay, but… really? And, fuck, it’s slow. 🙄 #film

That was pure magic from beginning to end. Well-known pieces, but given in a beautiful programme, brilliantly executed. And Núria Rial simply has the most beautiful voice I know. Astonishing. Plus the technique! It doesn’t hurt that violinist Yves Ytier dances too and is… grrrrr! 😍
