Today marks the 4 month anniversary of my husband’s stroke, and today we celebrated his survival by going to the library, getting some lunch, and going to a grocery store. It was the first time he walked through a grocery store, second time going to the library, and maybe 5th time dining out since his stroke. We met a kind woman at the library and meeting and talking with her made his day! I’m not exactly sure what I expected things to be like 4 months post stroke, but today was a very good day!

Do you ever get The Look? Bleu gave it to me yesterday. You know the one. The full, unblinking, golden retriever supervisory audit stare. There he was — standing on top of the rock wall like some furry park ranger who just caught me violating Section 4, Subsection “You-Know-What-You-Did.” Tail steady. Ears slightly lifted. Eyes locked. And suddenly I was eight years old again. Like I’d been doodling on my math worksheet, absolutely not paying attention, and the teacher calmly says, “Would you like to share the answer with the class?” Except this teacher has four paws and a better beard. That face says: “Oh, I noticed.” “Yes, I saw you open the cheese drawer.” “No, you did not offer me any.” “Please explain your reasoning.” Just quiet, dignified disappointment from atop a granite throne. I tried to defend myself. I offered excuses. I even attempted the classic “Who’s a good boy?” diversion tactic. He did not blink. I have never felt more evaluated in my life. Pretty sure I’m grounded.. or at least getting detention again 🤣

Do yo ever get “The Look?”

Bleu gave me the look yesterday and I felt like I was 8 again and had been ignoring the teacher in school and she asked me for the answer..🤣

I took this photo for the great reflection pattern, it won 2nd place in category at the San Diego International Exhibition of Photography in 2006.
