Greetings from Lake Athapapuskow in northern Manitoba, where unfortunately that isn’t just grey clouds. But there are the usual suspects, roughing out the smoke: Bonaparte’s gulls, grey jays and oodles and oodles of loons.

Like, she purrs when I pet her and she goes up to the kitchen (slowly) to see what there is to eat. If the meds still make her hungry, and if she'll still take them, then that's enough. I guess.

On top of everything else, Empress Methuselah seems to have reached the point where she needs pain meds in order to have an appetite. She's getting the pain meds, but I cried a lot yesterday.

So far as I know, "passing out from pain" is not a thing that actually happens, much as I've wished it was.

The attack was very painful & I'd rather not have another, but it was not as bad as unmedicated transitional back labor with a stuck baby, which is my bar. I have not had a kidney stone or a large 3rd degree burn.

In the last 24 hours I had a ??gallbladder attack?? and went to a driving range of my own free volition. Very exciting weekend around here.

Today I start my research trip sailing down the River Seine from Paris to Honfleur (via a few stops) in a reconstruction of the Klåstad cargo ship built in 998.
