Black background, with yellow, red, and green text that says "AFGE Local 2883 Celebrates Black History Month"
This month we honor Black workers who shaped the federal workforce and the labor movement.
At CDC, Black employees make up more than a quarter of the workforce.
AFGE L2883 honors their leadership and contributions and recommits to the fight for justice, equity, dignity, and safety at work.

Mandating telework during extreme weather events proves telework is not an undue hardship on government agencies. Federal employees with disabilities deserve the right to telework as a reasonable accommodation.

L2883 Statement on Government Shutdown
AFGE Local 2883 echoes AFGE President Everett Kelley's call for Congress to end the government shutdown. AFGE is committed to advocating for its members, and it is imperative to highlight the impact of this shutdown on government employees, their families, and their communities. Federal workers have recently had to rely on food banks, apply for unemployment benefits, and take out loans to make ends meet. Despite this hardship, many federal employees continue to report to work without receiving their pay. While many federal workers are still showing up to work every day, Congress is refusing to even show up to do their job. Local 2883 calls on Congress to return to workβand bring all federal employees back to work and ensure they receive the back pay to which they are legally entitled.

Court extends restraining order to shield more feds from shutdown RIFs
At an emergency hearing, a federal judge clarified that her restraining order prohibiting RIFs also applies to unions the government has stopped recognizing.
Good news for those (illegally) RIFed -
& another reason to join your local union
A federal court just clarified that its restraining order protects even more feds from RIFs during the shutdown --
including those in unions their agencies stopped recognizing (illegally, btw).
