Zeer, zeer pijnlijk voor NRC. Maar liefst drie rectificaties voor berichtgeving Wijers. Zelfs bij het bericht van afgelopen zaterdag van hoofdredacteur Patricia Veldhuis staat nu: "NRC kan niet instaan voor de zorgvuldige totstandkoming van dit artikel." 🫠

📈 Our research underscores the importance of media labs in fostering a culture of innovation, essential for the digital transformation of journalism & the resilience of European democracies.

🔍 Some key findings:
- Media labs serve as catalysts for experimentation and innovation, providing "safe zones" for interdisciplinary teams to ideate and test new approaches.
- Successful labs act as sensors for detecting trends, contributing to strategic foresight and institutional agility.

📅 In 2022, (yes, peer review can sometimes take long) we conducted interviews with leaders from 12 diverse EU media labs, uncovering three key archetypes:
- Labs focused on creativity and originality.
- Labs driven by business validation.
- Labs interpreting innovation through educational programs.

En als de genomen keuzes dan effectief nagelopen worden, dan zijn er best wel wat gaten te schieten in de modus operandi. Het zijn pijnlijke fouten die terecht op het vertrouwen van NRC, en bij uitbreiding, de journalistiek afstralen.

Het was de ene na de andere pijnlijke fout voor NRC, iets wat de ombudsman ook niet ontkent... Rommelige journalistiek

Dit is voor mij een tekenend voorbeeld van de stiefmoederlijke relatie die journalistiek heeft met transparantie. Daarnaast toont het dat bepaalde journalistieke keuzes moeilijk na te lopen zijn en soms arbitrair zijn...

De ombudsman noemt die interpretatie "terecht", maar het is toch sterk te betwijfelen dat die journalisten niet nog even doorgevraagd hebben of het wel degelijk om de 'leugenaar'-uitspraak ging. De ombudsman schrijft dan: "Het nieuwsfeit was zeker relevant om te melden." Om welk nieuwsfeit gaat het?

en journalisten. De verslaggevers hebben hier steken laten vallen. De verklaring van de woordvoerder en dus reactie Wijers werd geïnterpreteerd als een bevestiging van alle drie de uitspraken die waren voorgelegd...

... dan moet dat gewoon driedubbel gecheckt worden. Ombudsman noemt de publicatie van het artikel rommelig, ook omdat "de plaatsvervangend chef in Den Haag" pas in de loop van de middag inhoudelijk betrokken werd, "net als de hoofdredactie." Daarnaast was er een misverstand tussen woordvoerder...

"De uitspraak over 'een leugenaar' was door 2 van de 14 bronnen gehoord (...). Sommigen hadden zelfs helemaal niets gehoord van wat er op het podium was gezegd." Ombudsman NRC noemt berichtgeving gerechtvaardigd maar als je zulke aantijgingen hebt...
