It was somewhat bittersweet to have cut down the quartersawn red oak desktop for the office desk that was one of my first big woodworking projects in 2013. The frame of the desk was long ago reclaimed for other projects. But I've always held on to this top. Oh well. #woodworking

I'm not ashamed to admit that I cut the rough angles on my little band saw. But refined them with hand planes.

Good weekend of work getting the sharpening cabinet complete and hung. I need to make the middle shelf a bit deeper but it's fine for now. #woodworking # workshop

Working on a silly Standard Goblins deck for #mtgarena and this is working okay so far in non-ranked play. I've basically bottomed out in Platinum so I might just try and go ham on ranked.

I've been playing an angel package with Clarion conqueror and rest in peace in magic arena and it got me to platinum today. Kind of hit a wall and I need to figure out what sort of removal I need to get me to diamond.

I did not foresee that QAnon is a real thing, just with Republicans instead of Democrats. Very glad I left the GOP in 2016. New Years 2026 Happy New Year, everyone! Hopefully everyone has fully recovered from their New Year's Eve partying and is back in the shop. I certainly am. As with every new year, I try to tackle a few small but important projects (I call them "fixgasms") around the shop. The term is not exclusive to the workshop. A fixgasm can be anything that's been on the to-do list for too long and won't really take a ton of effort to complete, but will have outsized impact when done.

I bought a very cheap Stanley No. 6 #woodworking hand plane off eBay that's in remarkable shape. It's definitely post-war but before they got super chintzy. I'm not a fan of the kidney shaped lever cap, but for something that will just live in a bushcraft toolbox, you can't beat the price.

I will probably never forgive WotC for the Spiderman set, but what I've seen so far, the new Avatar: the Last Airbender set is pretty good. I have a jumpstart deck of Siege Engines/Swordmaster (WB), and it's crushing. We'll see how I feel about it after diving into some Standard.
