CBSβs THE ROAD is off to a bumpy start. Despite the advantages of an NFL halo and a huge lead-in from TRACKER (8M+), the new country music reality show opened to a very weak 3.2M viewers. In adults 18-49, it averaged a 0.16βtied with an ABC Halloween-y 35th anniversary rerun of EDWARD SCISSORHANDS

It doesnβt add anything and worse, if you want to look away and try to guess the password as celebs give the cluesβ¦you canβt, because Gene has spoiled it. Donβt think it makes sense for the NBC reboot to use it, either.

39 years ago today, on October 20, 1986, SUPER PASSWORD brought back something from the 1960s version of the show: Gene Wood started whispering each password just as the celebrities started to give their clues. Iβll be honest: As iconic as it is, I donβt like it!

COLUMBO creators Richard Levinson and William Link wrote this episode, an early example of the inventive plotting that characterized their work for 40+ years.

Was curious how this was playing on Occupied Twitter, and yup, the folks who worship the man who uses the F-word in the White House on live TV, and who regularly used the most vulgar language about Biden and Harris, and post dead fetus pics, are big mad about a middle-aged lady in an inflatable

I would note that this disdain points in one direction. These legacy media outlets have been quick to cover and hype tea party protests, anti-mask/anti-vax protests, and countless other examples of what they call βreal Americansβ engaging in protest.

For sure some of the legacy media outlets are downplaying the protests because theyβre aligned with Trump, but I think an even bigger factor is how many elite journalists have a patrician disdain for the idea that politics can happen in the streets and not just the CNN green room.
