“Gets annoying doesn’t it?” Scott joked. “But he is the best writer, all those books he reads have turned out for something I suppose.
You think you’ll be okay on this?”

To Me. .
“Gets annoying doesn’t it?” Scott joked. “But he is the best writer, all those books he reads have turned out for something I suppose.
You think you’ll be okay on this?”
Practicing his aim.
ZZT! ZZT!
“Heh, haven’t we always?” He gave her a head tilt. “I’ll have the jet ready for you by tomorrow morning. I think Hank has already written up a response speech —- so he’s still in the loop. Even if it’s you delivering it.”

“You can always talk to me, y’know. Logan.”
“Guess I’m just a little strung out.” Rubbing his neck. “You don’t need to worry about me, Quentin.”

. .we may need it more than ever now.”
Fingers curled around hers —- there was trust here that not many would understand. Years of bonding and trauma, the first of the X-Men; and that may seem little to some. But to Scott Summers, it meant everything. (c)

Well, it is. But it isn’t. And all of it. Too.
“Themselves. X-Force. Is what I’m calling it —- it’ll be our answer to their ever advancing programs.”

Always thinking. Of course he is —- because if doesn’t who will?
But now that thinking has turned into a walk, and he finds himself deep in the edge of the forest that surrounds the school.
“I believe you.” Which he always did.
Scott let his hand fall from hers, placing it back to his hip. “There’s a hearing tomorrow on a new Sentinel Program —- smaller units that can travel faster and scan quicker. I think one of us should be there.”
“It will be.” Summers says adamantly, now he reaches out —- for the first time since she had come to see him. Taking her hand gently in his, Scott offered a smile he could only muster for her. Always.
“I promise, Jean.”
“It’s just. .they’re moving against us. Always against us. And we’re moving too 𝙨𝙡𝙤𝙬. 𝙄'𝙢 moving too slow.
I’ve thought of something. Something to help us internally —- and hopefully externally too.”
“I know, 𝙅𝙚𝙖𝙣.” He says, and maybe a little too hastily. With a tightened jaw and red stained eyes that lay dormant beneath his glasses —- a scowl that he realizes is sitting in his face and makes him look oh so 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙥𝙞𝙙. “I’m sorry.” He says even quicker, changing his stoic look. (c)

“I thought things would change by now. Be. . .𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 in someway. But they stay the same.”
Her touch is comforting. It always is —- he should know better by now that it would ground him more than any deep breath could.
“Or else I stretch myself thin.” Summers said, a line from many talks they’ve had similar. “It’s just. .this year will mark the tenth year of The X-Men.” (c)
