The book Let This Radicalize You: Organizing and the Revolution of Reciprocal Care by Kelly Hayes and Mariame Kaba. The cover is orange and yellow with navy and white letters and scribbles of stars, and at the bottom there are navy silhouettes of four people holding hands and raising their hands into the air. The title and the stars are covered in resin rhinestones of the same colors, and there are also rhinestones randomly placed on the yellow and orange areas.

I will also give away a bedazzled copy of Let This Radicalize You by @prisonculture.bsky.social and @mskellymhayes.bsky.social, as well as a few pieces of jewelry I've made, to one person who either donates or otherwise boosts MN rent funds. ✨️

It’s day 84 of the ICE occupation of MN.

These 12 weeks have changed us forever. Minnesotans have found a new way to navigate the world- based deeply in our care for our neighbors.

Read Kelly Hayes interview with some of the dedicated organizers:

β€œthis is a moment where some of our newly mobilized co-strugglers can learn a lot from abolitionist organizers who have waged a lot of site fights to stop jails, prisons, and detention facilities from being built over the years. And we’re clearly going to need that kind of grassroots action.”

β€œWe Belong to Each Other Now”: Lessons from Minneapolis β€œThis extreme closeness, togetherness and intimacy β€” you cannot infiltrate your way into a space where you'll understand that," says May, a rapid responder in Minneapolis.

I want to shout out artist Gretchen Hasse, who drew the sketch featured in this piece. Gretchen is an old friend who wanted to pay tribute to the work rapid responders are doing. The sketch will be featured in an upcoming exhibition at Agitator Gallery in Chicago.

Reducing human value to what we can be trained to do is straight up technofascism. Every fascism has its suhumans. To technofascists, humans are the subhumans.

After months of relentless rapid response in Minneapolis, members of Defend the 612 had a moment to breathe and reflect on the lessons they’ve learned, the grief they carry, and the citywide fellowship they hope will endure. The crisis is not over, and I’m grateful they made time to speak with me.

I talk with folks at organizations like @defendrojava.bsky.social, the Internationalist Commune and elsewhere about how to help

This is the kind of thing white supremacists have been doing to Emmett Till’s memorial for decades.

It’s wild to see them do this to a white woman who the entire world saw extrajudicially murdered.

Today we are launching a new intitative of Stand With Minnesotaβ€”KeepMNHoused.com, a rent-relief campaign backed with a $1.5 matching fund from the Wilson Foundation.

Thousands of MN families are at risk of eviction because of the ICE occupation’s lasting impacts. We can keep them housed.

This episode was both (1) very scary, and (2) a refusal to wallow in that scariness, instead centering agency, resistance and possibility - pointing both to historical struggles against similar regimes and concrete, practical actions we can take.

I hope New Yorkers will challenge Mamdani about this. Too often, people feel they need to be absolutely for or against a politician β€” ignoring their missteps or throwing them out with the bathwater. You can like and/or believe in someone and still challenge them to deliver on their promises.

And what does rhetoric like this reveal about the broader trajectory of the movement he’s trying to shape? We get into it.
