Remember that academic event where you ended up debating ideas with colleagues, new friends, and even the speakers, long into the evening?

The British Neuropsychiatry Association teaching weekend is one of those and it'll happen Dec 12-14 in Oxford.

I'll be there. Do come and join us!

Been sat in A&E overnight with a family member with multiple issues going on. So often recently I have second guessed advocating for Physician Assistants at our Board. Tonight was an exemplar of how they can be a superb and seamless asset to the team. Thank you. οΏΌ

Urgent valuing of the service user voice to drive improvement in the NHS is required. The imbalance of power in challenging poor care leads to gaslighting and trauma and often does not deliver improvements. The NHS offers the same improvement (in)actions time and again report after report.

We HAVE to stand up for NHS Whistleblowers - because one day this could be any of us…. we all know there is a long and illustrious history of the NHS forcing people out who stand up for patient safety.

Implementation Science Seeks to Translate Research Into Practice This Medical News feature discusses how implementation science seeks to narrow the often yearslong gap between the development of evidence-based practices and their routine use in the real world.

I'm very interested in the field of implementation science.

I frequently quote a paper that found it takes an average of 17 years from "the evidence supports this change in clinical practice" to an actual change in clinical practice.

YouTube video by The Golden Circle Caroline Kennedy reads her letter to Senators denouncing her β€œpredator” cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

A bold move from Caroline Kennedy, but necessary as Robert F. Kennedy's leadership of Healthcare in the US could have far reaching consequences.

Future of the NHS: Health officials out of ideas and remarkably complacent, PAC finds - Committees - UK Parliament Report finds lack of fresh thinking and decisive action within NHS England and DHSC paired with overly optimistic planning assumptions as financial position continues to worsen.

"... senior officials do not seem to have ideas, or the drive, to match the level of change required, despite this being precisely the moment where such thinking is vital"

A scathing assessment of NHSE and DHSC by the Public Accounts Committee committees.parliament.uk/committee/12...

Had a conversation today about the difference between "kindness" & "niceness" in leadership so decided to post about it. The article & graphic explain why, as leaders, we should choose kindness over niceness:

When Journal, Scientific Society, and Community Values Clash - Absolutely Maybe A process I’ve been involved with at a journal recently exploded. It was meant to resolve a controversy about a publication, not…

I never thought a day would come when I would write a post this critical about the Cochrane Collaboration. But today was that day:
