Nice surprise yesterday to have received an invitation to the General Council of the World Communion of Reformed Churches later this year. Even nicer surprise to be included as part of the youth caucus, it makes turning 30 feel further away 😂

Yes mine was fine but got to a point where every time I used it the spine got worse. Definitely feels a lot fresher.

Just picked up my Bible from repair and getting a new cover put on it. So pleased with the finished result by Amy from Graphis Books in Kilmaurs, Scotland.

Discovered some interesting history on Katy’s side of the family yesterday. Katy’s great aunt was one of the first headmistresses in Northern Ireland and the only woman elder in the presbytery of Belfast in 1946. Elizabeth “Lizzie” McClune.

Their favourite lawyers and theologians seem to both employ similarly misleading hermeneutical strategies- getting the results the client wants

Great to be back at my home church @langsidechurch167.bsky.social preaching this morning. Today’s lectionary reading was from Revelation 21 and 22, we considered how we respond to the various apocalypses or revelations of today. Not through escapism but through spirit empowered action here and now.

One of the best things about moving from Glasgow to Ayrshire is not just the green space while still being close to Glasgow but also the easy access to the Galloway forest park. Great day in the sun after a busy and long few weeks.

A very emotional last Sunday at Barrhead St Andrew’s on placement. No one warns you when you start training for ministry how attached you would become to a congregation even within a 6 month period.
Will carry and cherish my memories of this time with me as I continue on my journey! 🙏🏼

100% my undergrad dissertation was on MacLeod’s theology of the incarnation + his campaigning against nuclear weapons in the 60s. Have lots of his quotes stuck in my head. A Great Cloud of Witnesses Trinity and New College Turkey Trip 2025

After spending last week exploring some of Turkey’s early Christian sites including Perga, Colossae, and the seven churches of Revelation I spent some time over the weekend reflecting on the trips significance for me. You can read my reflection on my Substack here:

A Prayer from Ephesus today. It has been an incredible week in Turkey hearing the stories and seeing the landscape of much of the early Church. Following in the footsteps of the apostles and early followers of Jesus has been so moving, I will remember these experiences for the rest of my life.

Hi Ken! Nice to connect. I’m currently training for ministry in the CofS and in my first year of my PhD on secularisation, mission, and the Kirk in the 1960s. That’s fascinating, I was in Fenwick just a couple of hours ago at a cafe called the Laird’s table. Stay not far from there in Kilmarnock.

There have been many points the last few months on my first ministry placement that I’ve felt an immense sense of privilege to be doing this work. Tonight that feeling of privilege was immense on my first funeral visit the simultaneous joy and grief of a life lived and lost all held in prayer.

I grew up in Ayrshire so most of my summers were spent at the beach with Arran as the backdrop. So I know that feeling of it meaning home. Only recently moved back down this way after 12 years in Glasgow.

Over 30 people at Kilmarnock station this morning waiting to get the first train to Glasgow. Cancelled with no explanation and no replacement bus until over an hour later.

One of my favourite things about @scmbritain.bsky.social is that despite having a small (but wonderful) team for a national charity, they continuously produce important and helpful resources for a more inclusive and life giving faith.
