There were no rock and roll bands, no big fireworks or fake displays, just the Church and an occasional pot luck dinner. When someone died, the women prepared a dinner for the bereaved family for the funeral. It was heavily COMMUNITY based and loving.I have fond memories of those days.

All I know is when I was young, we went to Church, sang,prayed, listened to the Bible story and sermon and we tried to help one another. There was NO BIG MONEY as everyone was poor but pulled together. The Church was a huge part of my father's side of the family with several ministers among them.

I know of a hustler that got a town to trust him, then invest their hard-earned cash with him, then leaving them for BRAZIL, taking their money. I know of Warren Jeffs and his abuse and several others. Corruption within the church, pastors raping girls, all brought it down. Reform is needed.

I don't think the "left" shut down the conversation regarding Christ. I think the many centuries of abuse in Christ's name, racism, twisting the Gospel, gospel hustlers that come into a town and take the money and run,have done great damage. In my lifetime, we've had countless abusers doing evil....

Begging your pardon, but "only one truth" exists is blatantly false. We have MANY truths according to our abilities to percieve. Some paths are better than others but NO ONE knows it all. We are fallible. Christian ideas have changed many times over in my lifetime. I prefer the old time ways.

As much as you remain devoted to Christ, it is inportant to recognize the rights of others to worship as they see fit, providing they harm no one. Respecting the rights of NON-CHRISTIANS is like Christ recognizing the inner goodness of the SAMARITAN woman, who technically was of an enemy tribe.

DUEto looking at many Bibles and doing comparisions,I noted a whole lot of things have been altered, changed, removed over the years.The main ideas are still there and that's what I look at. ALSO I value the words attributedto Christ more so than Old Testament stories.Diversity is a beautiful thing.

There are 50,000 differing Christian groups that all say they are the truth. The truth is, that none of them are. We did not live in Christ's time and a lot has been subtracted and added. The best we can do is look at his main teachings and the stories in the Bible for some wisdom for OUR AGE.

I don't see DIVERSITY of beliefs as a deficiency but rather see how God works with other cultures. At any rate, it is too late, way too late to insist all folks think alike, worship alike. In Christianity alone there are thousands of differing groups, and then Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Jews, etcet
