Anyway, helpful but unobtrusive Star Trek AI will never exist with our current incentives and stated goals. They want to go right to the stuff that triggers the Butlerian Jihad for some reason.

I can’t hold a pen straight to draw because of a surgery I had when I was four, so a limited program where I could just tell the bot things like, “Smooth out this arc I’m drawing,” would be nice. Something that helps you create instead of creating for you.

One of the most frustrating things about LLMs is that they have some really useful functionality, but the people building them are too focused on making them content-generators. Because a really useful and accurate reference bot isn’t as marketable as the idea of a brain-replacing machine.
